West’s Global IT Service Delivery department is currently seeking an Associate Developer for our site in Toronto, Ontario
The Associate Developer will be responsible for participating in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle; analysis and design, hands on coding, testing, implementation, documentation and ongoing application maintenance for small to medium sized projects. Associate Developers will have the opportunity to participate in larger projects and initiatives to continue to grow their professional and technical career.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Meet with end users (e.g., clients, internal customers, etc.) to further identify system requirements, assisting with evaluating and analyzing specifications to determine if request is possible
Code program based on system enhancements, modification requests, or new design specifications
Define project requirements by meeting with management and end users to gain a thorough understanding of project or project task needs, providing leadership and technical direction during all stages
Provide management with status reports detailing status and timelines throughout assigned projects tasks
Lead and participate in the activities involved in developing a comprehensive and logical test plan for systems using appropriate tools to ensure established standards are utilized
Perform evaluation of whether system meets the requirements, documenting findings for management and recommending solutions or improvements to problems identified
- Ensure quality resolution and thorough and accurate documentation of end user issues
Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredit college or university in Computer Science, MIS or a related field required
Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements
- Minimum of one year development experience using a standard coding language, such as Java or other object oriented programming languages required
Experience writing program designs for medium sized projects required
Prior project management experience preferred
- Java preferred
Linux Command Line Prompt required
SQL relational databases required
Web based APIs preferred
