Senior Manager Marketing Capabilities At Tyson Foods, Inc.

SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Marketing Capabilities reports to Director, Talent Optimization & Development – Prepared Foods, and is a member of the Talent & Culture Center of Excellence team. This role leads the marketing capabilities training efforts for Prepared Foods, including Retail Packaged Brands, Foodservice, and Chief Marketing Office. This role was established to ensure that all marketers and associated supporting functions (approximately 500 participants) have a clear and common understanding of Tyson’s marketing capability focus areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall: Support the development and execution for marketing training at Tyson Foods that meets the needs of Tyson marketers and Prepared Foods’ enabling functions. Investigate potential collaboration and cost-savings opportunities with Talent & Culture (L&D) and/or outside partners.
  • SPARK Marketing Fundamentals Program: Manage all aspects of the rollout and execution of the SPARK Marketing Fundamentals training program.
    • Manage relationships with key suppliers involved in the Spark program.
    • Create and manage all communications related to the Spark program.
    • Host regular Spark Event series and build recommendations for future Spark events.

  • SPARK Portal: Develop plans to optimize the Spark web portal, including updating the curated content section, creating a plan for the use of discussion groups and building out the template library to leverage best practices across the organization.

  • Category Onboarding: Lead the design and delivery of onboarding for new Team Members across all categories for Prepared Foods to accelerate foundational understanding of the business.

  • Marketing Rotation Program: Support and improve the Marketing Rotation program through process efficiencies, creativity, and stakeholder management.

  • Leadership Development: Deliver leadership and soft skills training aligned to business needs and enterprise initiatives. Partner with Talent & Culture to determine curriculum and facilitation of training, that addresses both base and innovation businesses and roles. Lead roll out and expanded scope of Prepared Foods’ externship program.

  • Talent Management: Partner with the business units and HR to maintain and adjust, as necessary, the marketing capabilities portion of the Brand Management capabilities to ensure that the marketing team has a clear sense of skills and capabilities associated with a marketing career path at Tyson Foods.

  • Logistics: In partnership with the Marketing Coordinator, oversee all event logistics for the Spark Marketing Fundamentals modules, the monthly Spark Events, Spark make-up sessions, rotations, and ongoing onboarding of new Team Members.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in advertising, communications, business, marketing or a related field; MBA preferred.

Experience: 6+ years of direct experience in marketing. Experience creating and/or instructing marketing training programs a plus. Soft skills and/or leadership training and facilitation experience required.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Special Skills: Relentless focus on execution, communication, and delivering results; proven experience building marketing capabilities for future organizational growth; ability to manage several projects, cross-functional teams and external resources.

Supervisory: May manage a group of Team Members who perform same or similar duties.

Travel: 6-10 domestic trips per year
