Account Clerk 2 - Cashier's Office At Southwest Tennessee Community College

Job Description

We have an opening for a Account Clerk 2 - Cashier's Office at our Southwest Tennessee-Macon Cove campus!

The Account Clerk 2 is a full-time, fiscal year appointment reporting to the Bursar/Director of Cashier’s Office and Accounts Receivable. The Account Clerk 2 is responsible for clerical processes relating to student and non-student accounts in accordance with TBR and Southwest policies and guidelines. He/she may execute clerical accounting or auditing work. This position requires a work schedule of 37.50 hours per week. He/she may, on occasion, work some evenings and weekends as needed; have the ability to travel between two (2) main campuses, and site locations if needed.



This role will be responsible for the following:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff and visitors.
  • Processes revenue receipts, checks, EFT’s, credit card transactions, grants and daily deposits; ensures proper posting to student accounts.
  • Serves as customer service contact and liaison for students responding to inquiries and directing calls and in-person customers as appropriate.
  • Assist students in understanding their account balances, etc.
  • Performs daily reconciliation of transactions, cash drawer, and receipts, ensuring cash and receipts are accounted for and deposited properly.
  • Process third party authorizations to student accounts.
  • May create, reconcile and distribute vendor invoices for student and non-student charges
  • Process bank wires timely and accurately.
  • Process vendor payments for external collection accurately and timely.
  • Research payments presented for processing.
  • Assist with Basketball ticket sales.
  • Assist with special projects and other assignments as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Cashiering experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to direct the flow of a considerable volume of detailed work.
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the faculty, staff and students.
  • A background check will be required for the successful candidate.
