Job Description

Eastern Regional Sales Manager

MISSION:

Achieve overall sales results expected for the assigned geographic area. Manage, develop and support the direct sales staff, any broker sales organization and the distributors to ensure achievement of business objectives relative to sales, marketing and new product introductions. Execute specific product, program and customer initiatives within the region. Evaluate local market conditions and implement regional sales activities in order to meet company targets for growth and profitability. Build relationships with customers and execute sales activities as needed to achieve revenue results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate and execute the sales plan for the geographic area, ensuring that each broker and TM have specific sales plans as well
  • Monitor the local market, analyze competitors, and provide insights to sales and marketing leadership to assist in the development of appropriate sales strategies
  • Direct and manage the sales resources (direct sales staff, brokers, etc.) for the geographic area in accordance with company objectives and local market conditions
  • Manage the relationship with any regional or national distributors in the region to ensure achievement of company growth and profitability objectives
  • Ensure all brokers and TMs have Forecast all current and new business on a monthly basis. Review forecast for accuracy and constantly monitor to ensure forecasting accuracy improvement
  • Maintain and update appropriate databases and sales support systems relative to account activity, pricing, trade spending, etc.
  • Handle other projects and/or initiatives as needed
  • Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to hire, develop and manage sales staff
  • Ability to build rapport quickly
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong persuasive and selling skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Sense of urgency; ability to “close” a sale
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer Literate-Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Bachelors degree in an appropriate field - business, marketing, culinary school, foodservice management or packaging
  • Minimum of 5+ years of sales experience in the Foodservice business; track record of success
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through project assignments or prior supervisory experience
  • Experience and understanding of the Packaging and/or Plastic Packaging business
