Job Description

Supply Chain Operations Plant Director – Bridgeview, IL Plant

The Plant Director contributes to the success of the Quaker Oat by directing the operations of the Bridgeview plant to deliver Safety, Quality, Environmental, Customer Service, Cost, Line Efficiencies, Waste, and Productivity targets. The Plant Director must convert overall plant objectives into achievable tasks at the execution level. This individual must set production performance standards and align the organization to achieve standards. In this role you will also be responsible for managing multiple shifts, non-union employees, and developing a team of approximately 200 hourly and non-exempt employees, and approximately 40 managers. Additionally, this role is responsible maintaining positive workforce relationships.

Major Tasks, Key Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

  • Apply knowledge of processes, equipment and system capability to set challenging individual and facility standards within a 390,000 sq. ft. sized plant
  • Develop Annual Operating Plan for the plant
  • Achieve all Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety & Motivation KPI objectives
  • Provide a work environment which adheres to compliance/ regulatory guidelines, ensuring performance against objectives
  • Manage direct and indirect controllable costs to meet overall cost index target
  • Systematically lead the identification and elimination of losses resulting in improvements in costs, inventory, time and quality
  • Assure facility equipment reliability to minimize downtime
  • Drive successful implementation of TPM Strategies
  • Establish clear performance and behavioral expectations for all employees, provide feedback on results. Lead, coach and develop leaders and employees within organization
  • Coach supervisors and managers to achieve performance standards with regard to safety, line utilization and quality
  • Build people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for both management and front-line hourly personnel
  • Continually evaluate Business Unit capabilities, skills and resource alignment to ensure performance against objectives. Lead realignment and work redesign efforts as necessary to provide executional excellence
  • Oversight of the scheduling process for receiving and delivering raw materials and finished products in a timely manner
  • Oversight of the inventory process, ensuring optimal levels of full goods are maintained in order to fulfill daily sales needs
  • Champion site diversity and inclusion teams and results
  • Provide active and positive leadership in the effort to drive cultural changes to improve business results and execution
  • Provide active leadership on Quaker Supply Chain Leadership Team and drive excellence in growth initiatives and programs

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree – Supply Chain, Engineering or related disciplines
  • 8+ years experience in a manufacturing leadership role preferably in the foods or beverage industry
  • A minimum of five years of prior work experience in a management position

Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in the consumer packaged goods industry
  • Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment
  • Project management skills, employee relations/ communication skills, team based manufacturing, results oriented.
  • A working knowledge of the following is also essential:
    • Demonstrated leadership in safety, environmental compliance and sustainability efforts
    • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities simultaneously
    • Ability to interface with operations personnel, outside contractors and different functional groups within the business units
    • SOX, FDA, FSMA, AIB and OSHA regulatory and compliance agencies.
    • Working knowledge of quality systems, finance, capital planning, project cost tracking and forecasting, economic justification analysis, statistical process control,and manufacturing management systems
    • Familiarity with TPM concepts, experience in implementing TPM initiatives is desired
    • Strong innovative external focus with excellent learning agility and proven ability to affect sustainable change
    • Very strong influence management and communication skills, must be able to sell ideas and gain organizational buy-in
    • High levels of analytical and financial skills, ability to use data to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and accurately assess financial impacts
    • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of an organization, plant floor to Sr. Management
    • A sense of urgency that drives ability to effectively deliver results
    • Ability to travel up to 15% of time
    • Comfortable and successful in operating within a Matrix Organization
    • Provide critical community leadership reflective of PepsiCo values
