Program Summary
The Office of the State Treasurer and Receiver General is seeking qualified candidates to participate in the 2020 Summer Internship Program. This program is an important vehicle to provide professional work experience to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students as well as in providing first hand exposure to the types of career opportunities available within the public sector. Treasury provides several professional career paths to explore when considering a career in the area of public finance, accounting, auditing, law, technology, retirement benefits, regulation, debt management, cash management, etc.
Treasury considers its ability to provide students with actual work experience in a professional setting to be an important part of its role as a public employer. Interns applying to this posting, if selected, will be assigned to a department and unit within Treasury and will work within that discipline as well as participate in group activities and projects. Here at Treasury, our focus is on ensuring that our interns are able to work on real life projects in order to gain real life skills. Active participation in program activities is mandatory. Successful candidates will be able to work both collaboratively and independently with other interns and Treasury staff.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a responsible and sensitive manner; and
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

We are committed to advancing the experience of students in the workplace. To be considered for an internship with the Office of the State Treasurer and Receiver General, you must submit the following:

  • Resume and cover letter
  • Letter of recommendation
Work Schedule:

The internship program will allow you to work Monday through Friday (except for holidays) with 15-hour minimum work week from June to August.
  • Currently pursuing high school diploma: a minimum of 8 weeks to a maximum of 10 weeks
  • Pursuing or earned a college degree: a minimum of 10 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks
Compensation:
In order to receive a stipend at the end of the program, interns must complete a minimum of 8 weeks for high school students and a minimum of 10 weeks for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns can intern for a longer duration, if confirmed by supervisor. The stipend for high school interns will be $1,500; for undergraduate interns $2,000; for graduate interns $2,500.
Please note that the exact schedule will be determined after a discussion with the direct supervisor.
