This position has a key leadership responsibility within NAIT Facilities Management and Development (FMD). FMD is responsible for planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of facilities currently comprising 370,000 m2 (4,000,000 ft2). FMD is also responsible for campus security, occupational health and safety services, emergency management and parking services.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of FMD, the Director is responsible for campus planning and space management for NAIT. Campus planning includes short, medium and long range planning. A major responsibility is to effectively manage NAIT’s space, which is NAIT’s largest asset. A consultative process involving key stakeholders is essential to advance overall objectives and to ensure successful outcomes.
Develop and update short, medium and long range plans. This includes NAIT’s Campus Master Plan, which guides and informs future campus development.
Develop and administer NAIT’s campus and facility planning, space management and architectural policy, procedures and standards.
Space planning and management to support the functions of business units and to optimize the use of facilities.
Provide technical direction, support and expertise to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and presentation skills.
Effective organizational and management skills.
A working knowledge of architectural, space planning, urban planning and interior design principles, standards and practices.
A Degree in a related field such as architecture, interior design or urban planning design.
A master’s degree is preferred.
Registration or licensure in Alberta is an asset.
10 years of direct-related experience.
5 years of management/leadership experience.
Equivalencies may be considered.
Remuneration: $90,941.50 - $120,483.48 annually and comprehensive benefit package
