Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with staff specialists/customers/suppliers to lead the improvement of existing product press equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer tracks, records/reports, identifies/investigates problems and continuous improvement related to existing product/press shop processes, and will also assist in the launch of new assembly and weld processes. The Manufacturing Engineer utilizes the APQP/CFT process to contribute to the smooth launch and implementation of projects and /or EC changes, meeting all critical deadlines and customer requirements. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the project, from its inception through PPAP, production and beyond. Key Responsibilities Must be capable of managing and leading projects from inception to completion - timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, buy-off, budget, prototype programs, and engineering changes. Prepares reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects. Works closely with other departments and customers to design solutions to improve production processes, reduce downtime, increase O.A., ergonomic design, and economic viability of our operation. Participate in design reviews, equipment buy-offs, process reviews. Coordinate and work with contracted Engineer to ensure that stamping equipment meets all of the Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSHSR) requirements. Assist in training plant personnel when requested. Lead Continuous Improvement Program initiatives. Develop and maintain plant equipment standards. Prepare capital quotation packages for approval as required. Participate as required in all TS16949 activities such as PFMEA, APQP, and CPMP. Follows and adheres to requirements of current customer quality and environmental management systems standards. Performs other related duties as required. Key Qualifications/Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering with a min of 2 years of experience. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills. Experience in Manufacturing Assembly and in processing equipment from inception to launch Experience with various welding processes (e.g. Mig, Spot, Projection, etc.) Knowledge and experience in TPS or other Lean Manufacturing systems is preferred. Ability to use CAD software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks. Must be knowledgeable in APQP, PDP, GD&T, PPAP, & PFMEA documentation and processes Knowledge of and familiarity with Tooling Build Standards, Machine Build Standard and Check Fixture Standards Must have a track record of building relationships with internal and external sources which are founded on trust, collaboration and cooperation.
