Analyst, Marketing Effectiveness At Macys

Location: New York, New York

Job Description

Job Overview:

The Analyst position will be responsible for the full life cycle of results of Direct Marketing/Loyalty Campaigns, Customer Response, Sales, Lift calculation etc. as well as ad-hoc analysis for Macy’s Direct Marketing/Loyalty marketing. The Analyst will also responsible for providing analysis and segmentation to improve loyalty marketing and customer insight, monthly/quarterly presentations to the loyalty team and being familiar with statistical and financial data analytics. Must be able to work collaboratively with managers in Loyalty Marketing, Finance, Advanced Analytics and other entities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

% of Time Duties:
  • 50% - Primary responsibility for direct marketing analysis from SQL/Business Objects/MS-Excel/SAS to support loyalty marketing. Tasks include prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, quality control, and process improvement.
  • 30% - Position is responsible for improving loyalty marketing effectiveness analysis of loyalty campaigns i.e. star pass, star money etc.. Partner with other teams in product and process development using database analysis tools.
  • 20% - Perform ad hoc analysis and reports using SQL/Business Objects/MS-Excel/SAS and other tools to support loyalty and portfolio analysis to support marketing and other business areas.

  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required from four-year college or university with an emphasis in marketing and analytical disciplines.
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with SQL/Business Objects/MS-Excel/SAS and or comparable software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Experience using campaign management and database applications for direct marketing.
  • Experience performing project and segment profitability for campaign effectiveness analysis using reporting software.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills using Powerpoint.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and forecasting.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions.

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
  • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.

Other Skills:

  • Familiarity with the financial services and retail industry preferred.
  • Proven track record demonstrating leadership, creativity and logical approaches to problem-solving in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills in a matrixed environment.
  • Proven ability to work in high-pressure environment with adherence to strict timelines, quality, project documentation and audit standards.
  • Excellent PC skills, especially spreadsheet modeling and PC database manipulation.
