Creative Production Manager At Macy's

Location: New York, New York

Job Description

Job Overview:
The Creative Production Manager role reports directly to the Senior Director, Creative Producer for Macy’s Branded Entertainment, overseeing various creative roles within the department and assisting show producers in creative development, event production and year-round strategic planning for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks and the company’s large-scale productions. This role supports the creative team in various aspects of event production by managing the details of projects, programs and performances. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
  • Review scripts for content and creative alignment for the brand.
  • Manage and negotiate with vendors, and track talent agreements through legal department.
  • Oversee rehearsals and music recording sessions, handling all scheduling, music preparation, studio selection, talent transportation, and assisting creative producer with overall music production.
  • Manage casting process and performance programs (marching bands, large performance groups, etc.) through outreach, director and actor communication.
  • Prepare and update official handbooks, training manuals, pitch decks, etc.
  • Event Production or Production logistics: creative oversight and coordination with operation, load in/load out activities, and/or event set up/strike for various Macy’s events, trainings, and attractions.
  • Project management: oversee calendar of deliverables, manage details, and ensure deadlines are kept.
  • Maintain budgets for each creative project, including writing purchase orders, tracking invoices, etc. as needed.
  • Work with Creative Producer and Content director to develop long-lead planning for creative producing team, with oversight of calendar of events to support programs.
  • Research viable vendor partners, industry best practices, competitors and potential collaborators.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments within Macy’s and within Branded Entertainment to ensure creative production process and goals are executed accordingly.
  • Assert creative voice and point of view during ideation and development meetings.
  • Manage seasonally hired support staff as needed; participating in hiring process, interviewing and onboarding.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • College degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of performing arts experience with a background in film, music, dance, theatrical/event production, stage management or company management required.
  • Experience in music production (writing, producing, performing) strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a director or creative producer in theater, film, or events strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point required.
  • Proficient in Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and analytical skills.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to multitask and work cross functionally in a fast paced environment.
  • Present a professional image consistent with Macy's brand value.
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged sitting or standing should be anticipated.
  • Heavy lifting (over 25bs).
  • Working outdoors and in inclement weather for events as needed.
Other Skills:
  • Basic computer skills and general technical competency required.
  • Organizational skills, including strong prioritization and flexibility.
  • Ability to work confidently in both corporate and fast-paced event production environments.
Work Hours:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; available to work retail hours which will include day, some evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Working on Thanksgiving Day is expected.
