Overview

The department is responsible for best-in-class digital, print and video materials that support and elevate the brands within the organization along with shared operational services including translation, financial governance, marketing projects and production and media buying.

The Graphic Designer (GD) provides design services for the in-house agency. The GD is responsible for supporting the creative team in developing and producing Tier 2 (Design origination) & 3 (Production Design) marketing collateral and internal communications materials for clients. The GD must exhibit competent design skills in achieving the highest possible standards for all materials requiring design in assigned projects and tasks. This role must exhibit basic knowledge of clients’ business challenges to execute design requests.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage Tier 2 & 3 marketing materials from start to finish
  • Develop initial rough layouts or mock-ups for creative review with graphic design manager and art director
  • Provide design support for assigned client group(s), as well as supporting projects from other clients as demand and scheduling requires
  • Collaborate with writing team as needed for specific project objectives
  • Collaborate with art director as needed for design support and professional insights
  • Produce and be accountable for the final development of creative assets ensuring accuracy, attention to detail and that the project meets or exceeds the design objectives
  • Ensure brand guidelines and directives are embraced and adhered to in all executions
  • Engage with the art director in account/client meetings when applicable
  • Work directly with production team as dictated by the scope of the project
  • Respond to all requests and communications in a timely and thorough manner
  • Work to improve the team’s overall performance and embrace a collaborative approach
  • Actively seek teammates for their input and insights on developing projects
  • Support leadership in helping to build a unified team mindset
  • Engage in professional development to continuously grow and remain competitive with outside services
  • Provide open and honest feedback to supporting team members with the goal of striving to be the best
  • Respectfully question direction from the graphic design manager or art director to help clarify strategies or fill information gaps
  • Review the briefs to ensure a full understanding of the objectives
  • Work with some direction from graphic design manager or art director and can be counted on for accuracy
  • Seek appropriate support from other designers to help develop assets for specific projects
  • Support and demonstrate corporate brand knowledge
  • Be an ambassador for the marketing department objectives and point of view on corporate brand and its visual identity
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in graphic design or related field
  • Minimum of three years of professional-level experience required in creative/graphic design within an external or in-house agency
  • Portfolio required
  • Adobe InDesign Certification a plus
  • Ability to write and speak effectively and clearly communicate with peers, leadership team and clients
  • Leverages data and trends in the competitive landscape to inform the design process
  • Well-developed project management and problem-solving skills/Ability to project manage/traffic personal workload
  • Maintains high quality standards despite pressing deadlines and always strives to do work right the first time
  • Prideful and diligent in the final preparation of work including production and presentation detail


Technical qualifications:
  • Expertise in design techniques, skills, tools and procedures for the applicable media
  • Proficient expertise in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign and Acrobat. Adobe certification a plus
  • Intermediate expertise in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop and quality control practices
  • Ability to create high quality CMYK or RGB images for print or multimedia.
  • Understanding of dot gain, color separations, trapping, Pantone to CMYK conversions, imposition work and retouching
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of composition, color, typeface selection, and other fundamentals of design
  • Strong understanding of file requirements for digital delivery
  • Understanding of emerging digital technologies including mobile/responsive/retina displays
  • HTML, HTML5 experience a plus
  • Sound understanding of MS Office
  • Understanding of design applications in traditional channels
  • Excellent design, production and prepress skills
  • Pragmatic with creative executions always keeping eye on the objectives of the assignment
  • Executes design requests with accuracy, producing zero errors in work
  • Prideful and diligent in the final preparation of work including production and presentation details
