The Portfolio Delivery Office (PDO) is a key partner in the delivery of change throughout IGM Financial. We deliver value by providing services related to Project/Program Management and Delivery, Data Analytics and Reporting, Portfolio Management and Intake Management.
Our mandate is to deliver seamless execution of change initiatives into the IGM organization through the adoption of an end-to-end project/program management methodology and governance. The team is also accountable for actively managing the portfolio of initiatives (existing and new) that draw upon delivery resources across the COO organization with a focus on raising key indicators relative to human and financial resource capacity. The team works in close partnership with other IGM shared services, IGM Corporate Operations division leaders and business leaders to deliver sustainable change and information to ensure optimization of limited resources to achieve our strategic objectives.

Reporting to the VP, Portfolio Delivery Office, the Director, Portfolio Delivery will have end-to-end accountability for the successful delivery of the projects under the assigned portfolio. The Director, Portfolio Delivery will directly manage and direct project managers and will rigorously govern and track execution to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost and quality parameters and be responsible for ensuring project managers are effectively adhering to project management methodology. In addressing end-to-end delivery requirements, these professionals engage with various business and delivery partners and oversee and guide project cost tracking, risk and issue management, delivery, compliance and project performance. As a strategic business partner, you will expertly work with key stakeholders, your peers and your team to drive and support optimal delivery for the company as we continue to evolve and mature our practices.
  • Lead delivery of a defined portfolio and the assigned set of initiatives with a clear focus on planning and active management of schedule, scope, change, risk, issues, operational readiness, implementation, overall resourcing and financial costs. Manage end-to-end solutions delivery and report on delivery portfolio progress, status, overall health and individual projects.
  • Ensures deliverables and end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit. Applies governance and controls to ensure that projects/programs meet all the performance, quality, compliance standards and conforms to appropriate methodology.
  • Manage and oversee project managers to ensure adherence to project management methodology and are executing with speed, agility, impact and professionalism.
  • Communicate goals and portfolio priorities to team members, management and executive sponsors
  • Track major project deliverables, share updates and support initiatives. Maintain high level of service, ensure commitments are met; recommend appropriate actions to project teams on planning and delivery
  • Identifies and tracks portfolio risk and develops mitigation plans to manage risk (i.e. risk related to technology, change management, procurement, business process management, requirements management).
  • Supports project management activities and ensures adherence to IGM’s project management methodology and practices.
  • Ongoing coaching and support to Project Managers in effective escalation, issue resolution, dependency management and release execution.
  • Develops an understanding of organizational complexity to interact and engage with the appropriate matrixed areas for the construction and delivery of the solution.
  • Seeks to integrate digital methods for agile, rapid prototyping, and for customer involvement.
  • Anticipates and reduces complexity for others.
  • Able to deal with complex business or technical issues and make appropriate trade-offs/escalations as required, while maintaining an overall project and portfolio perspective.
  • Acts as a champion for the Portfolio Delivery Office and advocates and identifies opportunities for continuous improvements to enhance the delivery execution value to the organization
  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities and individual learning.
  • Demonstrates experience in and knowledge of leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Coaches, mentors and develops their project managers to achieve higher levels of performance.
  • Engages superior talent practices to ensure that Project Management resources consistently provide optimal project delivery support.


  • 8+ years relevant experience managing/directing projects, teams, project delivery professionals, and related functions (financials, process/practice management, performance management, etc.).
  • Willingness, motivation and ability to set work direction and work autonomously in the management of the team, collaborating with other business and technology leaders to establish and execute on common goals.
  • Proven ability to establish and build healthy working relationships and partnerships with business leaders, peers, clients and team will work transparently and cooperatively with cross-functional teams, effectively engaging all pertinent stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Challenges the status quo and exhibits a mindset of creativity, determination and an energetic drive to succeed. Highly motivated, an independent thinker and has a proven track record of setting and meeting aggressive goals and actions plans, both as an individual and with a team

  • Provide leadership and effective management of staff; accountable to influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to their job. Set appropriate context when assigning work to link the employee’s work to organizational/ business unit goals. Lead and build a team and individual capabilities to ensure employees can perform to job requirements.
  • Known to be customer centric, both internally and externally
  • Proven track record in both waterfall and agile software development and delivery, with specific focus on leadership of complex projects and transformational programs. Familiarity with mixed methodology project governance is a definite asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint), Atlassian software suite (Confluence, Jira, etc.)
  • Knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools. PMP or similar certification preferred. Lean, Six Sigma, Scrum or other certifications are an asset.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of financial services (ideally Wealth Management specific) technology standards (e.g., infrastructure, architecture, processes, applications, platforms, services) is preferred.
  • BA in relevant field
  • Travel may be required
