The Corporate Solutions Technology department within Mackenzie Investments is accepting applications for the position of Data Systems Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Systems Analysts & Architecture the successful candidate will be part of a small/agile team working with the Investment Management Division.
The Data Systems Analyst maintains a “business perspective” through all phases of the project and works with the entire IS project team to assist in the planning, designing and launching of new solutions in support of our growing business needs.
What we are looking for:
2+ years of experience working with business principles and different types of business data.
Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related discipline (Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or Information Systems Management).
Technical expertiseregarding data models, database design development, data analysis and reporting tools.
Knowledge of and experience with reporting/ business intelligence software (Tableau), databases (SQL, MongoDB), programming (Python, SQL).
Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
Understanding of IS Methodologies, processes and practices.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure.
Primary responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Liaise with business stakeholders to understand business objectives to design the solution that will meet their needs.
Elicit requirements from business stakeholders through interviews, workshops, business scenarios, and user stories.
Analyze system data requirements and model the data design to deliver to business requirements.
Design data acquisition and storage techniques for data from primary or secondary sources.
Query and review large data stores to understand the transactional information and business rules that govern the data. Identify outlying data patterns and data cleanliness issues for resolution.
Investigate and respond to data issues raised by business stakeholders.
Document the system specifications for the software development team.
Ensure the quality of the solution by testing the development results meet the business requirements.
