Job Description

VP of Human Resources - JFK Airport Area

Janel is seeking a VP of Human Resources to lead Janel’s strategic focus on retaining top-quality talent. The VP of HR will manage, evaluate, update and report on a comprehensive plan that limits risk, fosters a diverse workplace and enables
all employees to contribute to the organization at their full potential.
Reporting to the President at our JFK location, the VP of HR will work closely with Janel’s Senior Leadership Team to help develop a pool of talent that will grow the company’s competitive position in the market. This is a unique opportunity to work on a team having fun building an industry leading business with a global reach, infused with a local, personal touch.
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
 Develop, interpret and implement policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state laws
 Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and company employment regulations and policies
 Plan HR strategies in support of organizational goals to increase employee satisfaction and productivity
 Act as a senior level advisor to executives and employees regarding human resources matters
 Manage hiring, coaching, performance assessment, disciplinary and termination practices
 Budget for HR and benefits expenses & select and manage 3rd party vendors
 Analyze market and industry trends to assist in appropriate, flexible compensation; benefits models
 Manage the integration of talent from future company acquisitions
 Create and implement talent training programs with cross-functional & regional collaboration
Position Requirements:
 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; concentration in human resources a plus
 Past experience in an HR leadership role; HR leadership for a public company a plus
 Ability to make sound decisions with a commitment to integrity and accountability
 Deep understanding of customs brokerage & international freight forwarding industries
 Skilled communicator & high energy motivator, marketing Janel & creating excitement about our mission
 Travel to all Janel current and future locations
 Candidates are required to have authorization to work in the United States
