Pricing Administrator At James Hardie

Location: Chicago, Illinois

As part of the Pricing Operations team, the Pricing Administrator maintains accurate pricing across all JHBP pricing infrastructure, executes special pricing, fileback and credit programs effectively and provides a high level of service to internal and external customers. The Pricing Administrator provides support to and coordinates information provided by other functions within the Company including Sales, Transportation Management, Logistics, Credit, and Production Planning. Occasionally, the Pricing Administrator provides functional backup to other areas of Pricing. The Pricing Administrator reports to the Pricing Operations Manager.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business Administration or other related field
  • One or more years of experience within a customer service, inside sales, pricing, credit, or analytical role
  • Experience with using Excel at an advanced level for analysis, data manipulation, etc.
  • Experience with SAP


Position Responsibilities

Pricing Administration: maintains, coordinates and communicates correct pricing across all JHBP infrastructure (40%):

  • Maintains accurate pricing information in all internal and external references.
  • Processes all pricing related credits and invoices with root causes analysis.
  • Corrects all pricing errors in orders received by the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system with root cause analysis and customer education.
  • Maintains, facilitates, and audits Pricing Allowances/Exceptions (PA/PE) across all JHBP sales markets and product offerings.
  • Maintains, facilitates, and audits promotional material programs.
  • Verifying, updating, and communicating price information as needed in support of the Customer Operations.
  • Responds to all internal and external customer pricing related inquiries.
  • Creates and maintains all pricing administration process and policy documentation.
  • Works closely with other internal stakeholders to ensure JHBP pricing SOX compliance.


Product Availability: maintains, coordinates and communicates product updates and availability changes across all JHBP infrastructure (20%):

  • Maintains accurate product information in all internal and external references (tools, systems, web).
  • Coordinating with Product Management and NPI on new product introductions and contributing to customer implementation and order execution.
  • Maintains vendor product information particularly retail customers to ensure smooth product transitions and enable new product launches.


Master Data: setup, maintain and validate customer master data enabling accurate order entry (20%):

  • Creates and maintains all customers shipping location information within JHBP ordering system (SAP).
  • Creates and maintains all material determination and material substitution functionality to support accurate order entry.
  • Processes EDI order errors related to customer shipping locations.


Supports JHBP Operations: provides support to other functions within the company (20%):

  • Provides research and support for both the JHBP Credit Senior Credit Liaison and Junior Credit Liaison.
  • Provides month-end research and support to JHBP Accounts Receivable.
  • Conducts root cause analysis on pricing efficiency opportunities in the areas discussed above and provides reports, analyses, and recommendations towards continuous improvement.
  • Participating in projects to improve accuracy, effectiveness, or efficiency of the system and/or process.
  • Multi-family pricing administration functional back-up including variable pricing models.
  • Provides ad hoc pricing reporting to support sales, product management and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the success of the group.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues and resolve customer inquiries and develop appropriate solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to identify process gaps, conduct Root Cause Analysis and hold internal stakeholders accountable for improvements
  • Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills to manipulate large volume of data and develop trends, conclusions and reports
  • Superior interpersonal and oral/written communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals. Strong ability to address dissatisfied customers
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on pricing concepts
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner. Ability to work in conditions that include multiple, and sometimes competing priorities and schedules
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately (at least 40 wpm preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel if needed for training or functional support, typically less than 5%.
