Event Planner At James Hardie

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Job Description

EVENT PLANNER:


Position Summary

The Event Planner is a key contributor to the Commercial organization that will coordinate a variety of different corporate events, trade shows, and networking opportunities. The incumbent will report to the Sr. Manager, Communications and Customer Engagement. They will work to create regional events that drive James Hardie brand awareness as well as strategic growth for the business. The Event Planner must have a strong background in event management and understanding of the impact events will have as part of James Hardie’s strategic plans.

Position Responsibilities

  • Establish, build, and maintain key internal and external relationships, including internal cross functional teams and external agencies
  • Event production (networking events, home shows, plant tours, etc.): coordinating all logistics for various events which include but are not limited to enrollment, allocating marketing materials, travel and venue confirmations
  • Prepare high-level proposals and written correspondence to customers and internal leadership
  • Serve as liaison between vendors, stakeholders and internal staff to ensure seamless experiences for our customers
  • Manages the prioritization, budgeting, planning, tracking, and execution of projects, ensuring on-time, on-cost, and on-spec deliverables

Position Requirements


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required):

  • Strong cross-functional management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively utilize internal resources to meet project deadlines and objectives
  • Ability to project plan events and projects and able to explain its value and connection to strategic goals
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen and assess customer needs, prioritize needs/requirements, and communicate them cross-functionally
  • Strong interpersonal skills to constructively foster relationships internally and externally
  • High level of motivation with the ability to operate as an individual and team contributor
  • 20% travel required throughout the U.S. (subject to change per business needs)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);


Education/Experience (required):

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, project management or related field
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a corporate event management and planning; preferably within durable goods, home-improvement
  • Experience with vendor contract negotiations
