Job Description

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent degree
  • At least 3 + years working experience working with Java, C#, or other OOP Language
  • At least 3+ years working experience with data structures and algorithms
  • At least 3+ years working experience with SOA architectures

The revolutionary, cloud-based digital comics service ComiXology was acquired by Amazon in 2014. With content from over 125 publishers as well as thousands of independent creators from around the world, we provide a wide library of comic books, graphic novels, manga and bandes dessinées, with first-in-class innovations including the exclusive Guided View technology which provides an immersive and cinematic reading experience and a monthly subscription service. The Books Tech team is based in New York City, with ownership of all digital comics metadata/ asset ingestion and processing, contributing to the ComiXology's mission of making everyone on the planet a comics, graphic novel, or manga fan.

ComiXology User team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our SOA development team focusing on designing and implementing innovative features for reading comics, graphic novel and manga. Our goal is to provide exciting, innovative and diverse work to keep both our engineers and consumers engaged. What You’ll Do:
  • Join a team of talented software engineers responsible for the design, development, testing and maintenance of the comics store customer experience and services
  • Translate business data and information into program design
  • Tackle daily challenges providing creative problem solving recommendations

  • Familiarity with Linux
  • MVC frameworks
  • Proficiency in object oriented development and ability to apply OO concepts.
  • Strong testing based development approach and automated deployments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, business management, time management, and developmental skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines under normal circumstances, and ability to make trade-offs and when needed to optimize outcome when conditions change
  • Ability to communicate with other employees in the company in both technical and non-technical roles.
  • Extensive experience in Java, Spring
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • REST/RPC API design and development
  • Basic web experience in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript Frameworks
  • Customer focus and data driven thinking
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full SDLC.
