Marketing & Business Development Manager At Ice Miller LLP

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Job Description

The Marketing and Business Development Manager will be responsible for supporting the business development and marketing efforts of Ice Miller’s Illinois offices. The Marketing and Business Development Manager must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive materials and maintain strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Work with partners and other attorneys to implement and track progress of their business plans with respect to Business Development and Marketing efforts
  • Be knowledgeable about key clients, referral sources and prospects in the market
  • Oversee creation of effective e-presentations, bio packets and other marketing collateral, utilizing the Ice Miller LLP website as the primary source for marketing materials; ensure marketing materials promote the Firm according to brand standards
  • Work with Events and Sponsorships Specialist, Municipal Finance BD Specialist and attorneys to maximize effectiveness of events and sponsorships including formal follow-up procedures
  • Work with Events and Sponsorships Specialist to create opportunities for direct contact with referral sources, such as accountants, banks, financial advisors, etc.
  • Work with attorneys to capture competitive intelligence and meaningful data about clients, prospects and referral sources in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database
  • Work with Director of Marketing and Business Development on media buys for market based on assessment of highest estimated ROI for allocated budget
  • Assist Director of Marketing and Business Development with development of integrated communications/marketing plans that utilize traditional media, social media and digital platforms for maximum return in targeted markets
  • Work with Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer to formulate annual Business Development and Marketing budget for Illinois based on goals of leadership and prior expenditures
  • Responsible for ongoing oversight and tracking of Business Development and Marketing budget for Chicago and DuPage offices
  • Provide background and research on industries, organizations and individuals that are identified as prospects by partners and/or the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer
  • Maintain and update a prospect list for the Illinois market
  • Be knowledgeable about Business Development policies and procedures and follow them unless Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer approves otherwise
  • Be knowledgeable about available resources for marketing and business development efforts and offer solutions utilizing those resources
  • Visit each office within Illinois market at least twice a month and more often if circumstances warrant
  • Work with Director of Marketing and Business Development on Chicago and DuPage communication efforts and tactics including press releases, media relations, talking points and key messaging
  • Manage Chicago and DuPage professional listings and directories including recommendations on value of specific publications
  • Manage the Chicago and DuPage office participation in community and industry awards and nominations
  • Provide marketing and business development training as needed
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Journalism
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in either a public relations or marketing role
  • Willing to spend time in Chicago office and DuPage office
  • Experience working with a professional organization preferred
  • Understanding of law firms a significant plus
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to attend events after work hours
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Technical skills and the ability to use designated software and design tools such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties
