Our company, IQ&A is currently recruiting for an Automation Engineer in the GTA that can bring in value and be apart of our growing team. In this role, you will be working with a team throughout the lifecycle of small and large scale electrical control systems. In addition, this position will require having to performboth in the office and at customer sites, while applying your knowledge and experience to design, implement, test, deliver, integrate, commission, optimize and support custom control systems in new and existing integrated solutions.
Job Summary
- Primarily responsible for the technical aspects of projects and project management responsibilities as required
- Develop controls designs and electrical schematics; specifying hardware and components
- Develop PLC/HMI/SCADA programs, set up VFDs and servo systems
- Commissioning and debugging machines at customer sites
- Troubleshooting electrical/mechanical and fluid power systems
- Develop and verify safety systems; understanding safety risk assessments
- Comfortable executing and/or leading small to mid-sized automation projects

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing
- Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
- Make updates to the drawing system; panel design (Autocad Electrical)
- Prepare functional descriptions of process controls and sequence of operations
- Development and support of PLC and HMI programs for use on industrial equipment
- Application and setup of VFD and multi axis servo control systems
- Integration of specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control with an emphasis on efficiency
- Commission and troubleshoot automation applications
- Assist customers and/or co-workers with electrical/programming issues; aid with specifications for purchase of electrical components
- Provide electrical machine commissioning and/or technical support both on and off-site
- Field installation work requires travel to customer's facilities
Requirements:
- Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block/ST logic, you have working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Beckhoff, Siemens, AB, etc.) and electric circuits consisting of contractors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors, etc.
- Hands-on experience applying electronics, pneumatics and electro-mechanical devices is a must
- The ability to work well with minimal supervision and take initiative
- Perform basic wiring work and general installations, Identify causes of problems while developing methods of correction
- Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic degree/diploma/certificate or Trades Qualification and significant equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot industrial networks, machine safety circuits and applications
- Understanding of VFD, DC and Servo Drive systems
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, work overtime and weekends as required
- Proficient in industrial machine controls, electrical systems, PLC and HMI programming with a working knowledge of multi axis servo systems
- Able to create CAD drawings for assembly and wiring control panels and instrumentation
- Program Beckhoff/Allen-Bradley/Omron/Siemens PLC's and HMI's
- Vision systems experience would be an asset
- Hold a valid Canadian driver's license with a good driving record
- Solid technical communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision
- Exposure to SCADA and/or motion control
Education & Work Experience
- MUST have a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics & Automation or Computer Science
- MUST have 3-10 years of experience in the controls and automation industry

Salary: $22.00 to $35.00 /hour
