The Population Health Research Institute (PHRI), a joint institute of Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University, with over 300 employees working directly with over 50 researchers. PHRI conducts clinical research internationally in 101 countries and is a world leader in large, global health and population and health outcomes research. Our capacity to conduct multiple international studies concurrently, with tens of thousands of participants in each, is a capability very few organizations in the world can match.
The Solutions Architect will assume accountabilities and assist in leadership on technical matters such as change-management, continuous integration, software development, and software quality. They will make informed technical decisions and recommendations about platforms, tools, patterns and products that can be applied to solve problems at both the large-scale project-planning level and on individual features. They should be prepared to support developers and business analysts in the design of individual system features to satisfy both functional and technical needs. They also should be able to plan the scaffolding of the development environment that allows the developers, analysists, and testers to implement features.
The Solutions Architect should not require any mentoring on most technical matters, and instead should be capable of providing mentoring and assistance to developers.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days
1. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
2. Minimum 8 years of experience in Software Development, with at least 2 of those in a leadership position.
3. Strong communication skills (oral and written)
4. Thoughtful and thorough analysis and proposals
6. Knowledge of: Microsoft .NET, Visual Studio, Software and Architectural Design Patterns, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
7. Experience implementing and/or maintaining continuous integration and deployment systems including automated build, testing, analysis, and deployment to development, test, and production environments.
8. Experience in software quality including unit-testing, test automation, manual test planning and exploratory testing.
9. Leadership experience guiding other developers in implementing quality application code.
