Based in Edmonton, the Director, Airport Services ensures the smooth functioning of day-to-day airport operations by fulfilling the company’s performance goals. The Director of Airport Services is responsible for consistently driving improvements to reduce costs, overseeing and directing ongoing manpower planning, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures in a safe and professional manner.

Primary Job Functions

The Director Airport Services:

• Ensures outstanding operational performance through effective cross functional leadership during day to day operations for airports and passenger services;
• Oversees the Customer Coordination functions through the management of the Airport/ Passenger Coordinating Centre (APC) team;
• Establishes, builds and maintains pertinent relationships with vendors, internal customers, airport officials, Transport Canada and the FAA;
• Drives financial success by producing a high quality and cost-effective business unit through sound and innovative financial management;
• Monitors and manages budgets and spending, reviews work schedules and identifies creative solutions to reduce costs and improve efficiencies;
• Designs effective processes, procedures and practices that eliminate complexity and streamline execution while continuously searching for innovative ways to improve established systems;
• Establishes contingency plans during irregular operations (IROP);
• Leads by example, cultivates a team-based work environment offering development opportunities for employees through the creation of performance expectations, mentoring, conducting regular performance evaluations, and encouraging upward movement of top talent;
• Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel. Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel;
• Takes a leading role in managing complex projects while still managing day to day productivity; and
• Such other duties as assigned by the company from time to time.

Working Conditions

The Director, Airport Services will be based out of Company Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta. Regular travel will be required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience;
• Minimum ten (10) years’ airline management experience required;
• Demonstrated management ability through a history of progressive leadership roles;
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and required Transport Canada, FAA, airport, and/or customs identification, seals, and authorizations;
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);
• Strong analytical skills with proven experience in using logic, data, and accurate analysis to solve problems;
• Ability to assess priorities and problem solve under pressure of competing demands;
• Ability to provide efficient, cost effective solutions;
• High tolerance for ambiguity;
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
• Exudes high level of integrity and strong ethics;
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite; particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel;
• Ability to travel and work extended and irregular hours;
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
