Business Analyst, Investment Management

Fidelity Canada Asset Management (FCAM) is the Canadian subsidiary of Fidelity International (FIL), offering world class investment solutions and retirement expertise to institutions, individuals and their advisers. About the Team

FCAM consists of Portfolio Managers who manage equity portfolios and mutual funds as well as Research Analysts who provide equity research and investment recommendations. FCAM’s Toronto-based equity trading desk is responsible for trade execution while ensuring best-execution obligation are fulfilled. The organization is supported by internal Investment Compliance, Trade Surveillance, Portfolio Services, and Production Services teams.

This front office facing role within the Information Services organization will be responsible for delivering comprehensive technology support and project delivery services to all traders, portfolio managers, research analysts, and investment compliance users.

The role will work closely with FCAM’s local trading desk and global trading system support teams on projects that will create efficiencies and streamline workflows.

What You Will Do

As a Business Analyst you will belong to the Investment Management technology team in Toronto and will work closely with Global Production Services teams to support the core trading applications for Toronto-based traders and Investment professionals.

The candidate will be responsible to fully bring FCAM business processes and reporting tools in-line with global FIL standards. This entails identifying continual improvements, determining business requirements, and providing pre- and post-implementation support.
This candidate will work closely with geographically dispersed teams on globalizing Research authoring tools, customizing reports on Investment Management activities as well as working with the trading desk on streamlining workflows and trading management tools.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing business-as-usual incident management and service request management in line of industry standards.
Expertise You Will Bring

Strong knowledge and experience of the Canadian Equity and/or Fixed-Income market place.
Previous experience working with front-office trading staff and a high sense of comfort in a setting which involves senior Investment Management professionals as well as staff on a more junior level.
Experience in creating and running SQL queries and willingness to work with larger data sets.
Readiness to get your hands dirty to deep-dive into issues and jump over hurdles for successful and timely project completion.
Ability to communicate in an efficient and concise fashion.
Excellent skills in identifying your audience and address them with the right level of complexity and refinement.
Proven track record of having strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high focus on your customers.
Education & Experience

University degree with an area of study in the field of Technology and/or Business Administration
3-5 years of work experience in developing and supporting IT applications in a Capital Markets environment.
Hands-on Production experience with Charles River IMS and trade execution management platforms
CSC is highly desirable
ITIL qualifications and/or Project Management certification are an asset
