Technical Consultant At eHealth Ontario

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Description

We’ve built an electronic health record system with networks to connect health organizations and sole practitioners across the province. Having rapid access to complete, up-to-date and accurate information puts health care providers in a better position to provide the best possible care and today more than 154,000 clinicians have access to important patient information like lab tests, diagnostic images, and hospital reports. We’re working closely with health care professionals, hospitals, community-based providers, Local Health Integration Networks, Canada Health Infoway and vendors to develop the best solutions for Ontario’s 14 million residents.

As a Technical Consultant, UI/UX Developer, you will play a lead role in the design, development and integration of web UI components for various clinical applications on a project by project basis

Specific Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement technical solutions that meet client business requirements, this could include new or changed workflows, web services, web applications, etc.
  • Provide leadership to help coordinate development and deployment work among a team of technical resources (e.g., developers, architecture, Operations, consultants, etc.) to ensure delivery of functionality
  • Create deployment guides, implementation plans and configuration guides where applicable.
  • Consult with project stakeholders in identifying, documenting and evaluating options for the delivery of solutions to meet client business requirements.
  • Provide input to the product roadmaps by developing an in-depth understanding of the immediate and future client business needs
  • Assess new technologies and existing technical solutions to ensure that client business requirements are met
  • Collaborate with colleagues to determine the most suitable solution and obtain buy-in from the team
  • Develop and deliver presentations to project stakeholders on proposed approaches to addressing client deliverables.
  • Ensure that solutions are in compliance with and adhere to eHealth Ontario standards and protocols with respect to privacy and security of information
  • Provide independent assessments of technical problems, issues and solutions

Your Skills Make the Difference:

Experience

5-8 years' experience

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive experience integrating Web UI software layer with application (business logic) layers
  • Extensive experience with Javascript, AJAX components, HTML5, CSS
  • Strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, Angular). Particularly Angular 6
  • Strong experience with Node JS, Electron, ES6, React, React Native, GraphQL
  • Strong experience with REST API's, XML, JSON
  • Strong understanding of agile development practices.
  • Experience with a variety of J2EE application servers (e.g., JBOSS, Tomcat, OC4J)
  • Experience enabling technologies like Webpack, Babel, Jenkins, Junit
  • Experience working with backend systems built in Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot
  • Strong experience with PWAs, SPAs and Mobile First development .
  • Experience with Linux, command shell
  • Experience with container based development (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, including sprint planning and participating writing user stories
  • Experience working with GIT
  • Experience Testing with technologies like Selenium, Mocha, Cypress, Enzyme
  • Experience in using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with Object Oriented architectures, methodologies and programming
  • Strong understanding of AODA requirements
  • Particular interest in candidates with experience in Angular 6, OAuth2 and OPENID Connect

Education

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm, with some afterhours work required
