Accounting Intern - Summer 2020 At Egan Company

Location: Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

Job Description

Overview:

Egan Company is looking for an Accounting Intern at our corporate headquarters located in Brooklyn Park, MN. This position has a flexible start and end date for a 12-week summer internship.This internship will provide exposure to Accounting and Payroll functions.

Responsibilities:

The Accounting Intern will spend approximately half of their time working with the Payroll team and the other half with the Accounting team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Complete general ledger account reconciliation.
  • Record and post journal entries.
  • Compile financial information for monthly reporting.
  • Provide audit support for the internal annual audit.
  • Provide audit support for the Department of Revenue sales tax audit.
  • Work alongside accountants to prepare the annual budget.
  • Conduct weekly certified payroll reporting.
  • Enter field expense reports and assist with union new hire setup in the Payroll system.
  • Help the Payroll team finish their paperless project by converting paper files to electronic files.
  • Provide assistance to accountants and payroll team for a variety of projects and reports as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an Accounting or Finance four-year undergraduate program.
  • Must be a junior or senior level student by the time of the internship.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher will be given priority consideration.
  • Ability to perform a high volume of detailed work accurately.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and GSuite programs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • High level of self-motivation and willingness to take initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working Environment:

  • Performance of duties mostly in the office.
