Sponsorship Marketing Specialist At Deloitte

As a member of the Marketing Team, the Sponsorship Marketing specialist will report to the Sponsorship Manager and will act as a strategic partner to business leaders. Typically engaging regional marketing managers, sponsorship properties and clients, the role will work to fulfil sponsorship obligations of national properties (80%), and assist Deloitte regional, industry and service lines to build their business thorough localized sponsorships (20%).


The sponsorship specialist will:


National sponsorship support: (80%)

  • Provide overall support to the Sponsorship team, reporting directly to the Manager, Sponsorships;
  • Help to develop strategic plans and activate sponsorship properties tactically to support key Deloitte clients and prospects;
  • Assist in the planning, development and fulfillment of Deloitte key properties such as unique Olympic and Paralympic themed initiatives, Game Plan Day in Canada, and Canada’s Great Kitchen Party, among others;
  • Assist in the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives;
  • Meet with appropriate cross-functional teams as needed to discuss ways to maximize all partnerships, and review status and leveraging possibilities of current relationships;
  • Help to determine objectives and execute plans for major sponsorships that will maximize ROI;
  • Help to develop and execute reporting on ROI;
  • Liaise with corporate social responsibility where appropriate to ensure that sponsorships incorporate an element of support of CSR mission of education, employment and inclusion;
  • Monitor graphic standards for logo usage, promotional restrictions and sponsor recognition program to ensure fees paid are proportionate to benefits delivered;
  • Review and approve final marketing materials, including advertisements, news releases, promotional and program related materials;
  • Review agreements, make recommendations and provide contract negotiation support;
  • Assist with value assessment for event proposals and partnership packages;
  • Assist with sponsorship negotiation and deal review;
  • Create sponsorship timetables and work back plans well in advance of scheduled events;
  • Support the development and execution of sponsorship rights and benefits as per sponsorship contractual obligations;
  • Track value-in-kind sponsorship spend;
  • Monitor sponsorship activity of competitors;
  • Provide administrative support as needed.

Regional sponsorship support: (20%)

  • Establish effective partnerships by communicating and collaborating within and across regions, industries and services with business partners and marketing colleagues;
  • Help identify, enhance and implement standardized processes for the evaluation, negotiation and success measurement of regional sponsorships and events;
  • Monitor local performance and assist in the ongoing assessment and evaluation of sponsorship marketing initiatives to improve effectiveness, drive continuous improvement and increase value for regional teams;
  • Leverage influencing ability to obtain support and buy-in from regional teams.

The successful candidates for this position will be an enthusiastic, self-starter with:

  • Excellent judgement, professional maturity, confidence and event experience;
  • Good reasoning, decision making, critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as internal organization and persuasion skills;
  • The capability of working with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent communication and business writing, listening and public speaking skills;
  • The ability to work well in team environment and autonomously, with a strong attention to detail in a fast changing environment.
  • The ability to complete important time sensitive tasks, adapt quickly to last minute changes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Must exhibit initiative and teamwork, a “can-do” attitude, strong work ethic, high energy and good sense of urgency;
  • Prior sponsorship or client relationship management is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Canadian high performance sport considered an asset;
