Job Description

The Director, Smartmail Marketing is responsible for developing and executing the strategies and plans to grow our direct mail business. Leads the identification of key markets and industry verticals with potential for CPC business growth and drives new business through the resulting integrated marketing programs, lead generation and sales opportunities. Leads a team of marketing professionals that works closely with product teams, industry partners and our sales team to gather insights and continue to grow the Smartmail Marketing business.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Director, Smartmail Marketing.

  • Plans and executes integrated marketing strategies and programs for key market opportunities aligned with Corporate priorities, Line of Business (LoB) growth strategies and revenue targets; ensures alignment and compliance with CPC’s brand position.

  • Develops key objectives and strategies by market to meet business objectives and develops, directs/executes and measures all go-to-market activities, including direct communication, sales support materials and other related information.

  • Assesses requirements, designs, develops and implements programs, and evaluates the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, collateral, sales promotions, and events to support revenue retention and growth targets for the key opportunity markets. Collects and analyzes results and reports outcomes to internal stakeholders, adjusting strategies as necessary.

  • Shapes, develops and maximizes content marketing and thought-leadership programs, translating data, market insights and research into a key market engagement strategy that integrates into overall marketing activities.

  • Works with external partners, key associations, industry influencers, agencies and other groups within the marketing ecosystems to increase market influence and reach and to drive business development. Identifies and champions CPC participation in appropriate industry events and conferences as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities (continued)

  • In collaboration with LoB product teams, assesses existing product configuration applicability for key markets. Determines gaps and requirements for product modifications, value added services and/or new products or pricing.

  • Directs and implements customer-level marketing, communication and sales initiatives to leverage the data insights and drive business. Leads the creation of sales-and customer-facing materials.

  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with agencies, partners, and suppliers to develop successful campaigns, brand positioning, and media copy platforms, and special event strategies with the overall objective of growing revenue, and gaining market share. Builds and maintains key relationships internally with Sales, Data, Customer Experience, etc.

  • Manages the marketing budget for all Enterprise Marketing campaigns and tracks applicable measurements (e.g. Cost of Acquisition, Cost of Retention etc).

  • Leads a team of marketing professionals in a manner that promotes corporate values, leadership behaviours and habits. Engages and coaches team members, enables them to optimize their role and contribution to the business and provides opportunities for professional development.



  • Completed post-secondary degree in a related field such as Business, Marketing or Communications OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training


  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience; experience in content marketing a definite asset
  • 3 or more years’ experience managing people
  • Experience in leveraging direct mail in an integrated mix an asset

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
  • Budget and planning experience
