A combination of process, project, safety, quality and supervisory tasks that contributes to company profitability and employee growth leading to increased responsibilities within the facility. Provide support to plant operations and maintenance departments with technical, problem solving, and analytical skills in process troubleshooting, optimization, project design and implementation, safety, maintenance and cost reduction. Act as a resource and backup to the operations and maintenance supervisors while learning about all aspects of our industry and company, in preparation for challenging assignments at any location.
As an operations trainee this position focuses on employee development through a structured training program. The operations trainee is provided the opportunity to learn all aspects of facility operation, maintenance, project execution, supervision and management.
The operations trainee will have hands on exposure to equipment operation, maintenance, quality assurance, operations supervision and management in all areas of the facility.
Participate with the Plant Manager and other department Managers in planning, costing and implementing the capital budget.
Perform detailed engineering and management of assigned projects. Perform studies on existing facilities/process to find potential improvements.
Work with plant management on safety and environmental issues to ensure that Bunge Nipawin meets or exceeds regulatory requirements.

Interrelationships: Work with Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, Department managers, Supervisors, Maintenance staff, Contractors, Operators, and support people.
Accurate, timely, and safe completion of assigned studies, projects, etc.

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Training and/or experience in AutoCad, PLC systems, Process Control Instrumentation systems, Hysis
Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEG’s or eligible for registration.
Two to five years experience in a production environment.
Experience planning and implementing projects, working with contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, etc.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: materials handling, fluid mechanics, heat exchange equipment, agricultural or industrial processes.
Ability and willingness to work as a team member.
Good ability to communicate with people.
Well developed computer skills, familiarity with software relating to business and engineering.
Willingness to study and continuously learn new about processes, equipment and projects.
Ability to effectively supervise contractors and/or other staff when called upon.
Ability to work effectively within conflicting demands and time constraints.
