Outside Sales Representative At BuildDirect

Location: Los Angeles, California

Job Description

The role: Outside Sales Representative based in California

We are looking for a self- motivated and results-oriented sales and business development professional to call on target customers (businesses) that would drive repeat business for BuildDirect. You will be responsible for selling flooring materials such as SPC Vinyl, WPC Vinyl, Laminate, engineered hardwood, hardwood, ceramic and porcelain.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prospect and build business relationships with small -to-medium developers of single-family homes and multi-family apartment sites, within your territory.
  • Relay this information to inside sales team in order to customize sales opportunities and source desired products in the market.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional BuildDirect teams at HQ in Vancouver to support and grow prospective and acquired accounts.
  • Leverage lead tools along with your own understanding of the territory to perform analysis on regional opportunities and develop a sales/customer acquisition plan
  • Identify additional activities, training or materials necessary to achieve specific product sales goals in key accounts and markets
  • Handle customer claims, propose resolution and coordinate with claims department
  • This position requires a minimum of 90% market travel and time spent at the customers’ job sites and business locations, including meeting with and further developing business customer relationships.
  • Maintain a specific schedule for new and existing customer follow-up and keep all valid customer information updated in BuildDirect’s corporate CRM tool (Salesforce).
  • Work closely with Director of sales at BuildDirect’s HQ to achieve area growth goals

What You Need to Know:

  • Prefer at least 3-5 years of successful national account sales experience, preferably in hard-surface flooring and/or building products.
  • Prior experience with floor-covering installers is preferred, but not essential
  • Proven successful experience managing accounts representing a portfolio of $1 to $3 million annually.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and assist in RFI’s and RFP’
  • Prior rolodex of business contacts to sell into is highly preferred
  • Work involves extended hours including some weekends and evenings
  • Strong business acumen and solutions selling skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, including delivering product knowledge training sessions
  • Ability to plan and prioritize independent work schedule
  • Ability to easily build and maintain strong relationships with customers and others in the industry.
