The Senior SQL Database Administrator is responsible for provisioning, installing, configuring, and providing maintenance of SQL Database systems, software and related backend infrastructure for servers and storage.


YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Detect and troubleshoot SQL Servers related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention;

  • Manage backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, database mirroring, replication;

  • Work efficiently on indexes, integrity checks, configuration, patching;

  • Work efficiently with SQL Server tools ( Profiler, DTS, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, PerfMon);

  • Manage security and report incidents

  • Create, maintain and refresh instances/databases for development and production environments;

  • Act as liaison between application programmers and project teams to assist with resolving problems;

  • Follow standards, write, maintain and document monitoring scripts needed in support of databases;

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff of varying technical expertise;

  • Participates in technical research and development to promote innovation within the infrastructure environment

  • Establish maintenance procedures and system documentation.

  • Provide level 3 support for servicedesk

  • Participate in incident’s resolution and documentation

  • Provide off-hours on call support



YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Qualifications

  • College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience

  • 7 years experience

  • Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools;

  • In depth knowledge of MS-SQL Server 2008 and higher

  • Experience with mission critical high availability environments

  • Excellent knowledge on infrastructure technologies (servers, virtualization, networking, end user computing, etc)

  • Windows operating systems experience

  • Bilingualism (French & English).

  • Server and SAN storage hardware experience

  • Virtualization experience (VMWare)

  • Data Protection experience

  • Strong communication skills and technical writing skills.

  • Ability to provide technical support in a professional manner

  • Ability to conduct research into technical issues and products as required.

  • Attention to detail with the ability to determine root cause.

  • Ability to work under pressure
