Director, Product Management (Conversions) At Broadridge

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Description

Position Description:

The Director, Product Management position will lead assigned conversion team and/or project team members from the startup of a project through to implementation, and post coverage. The position is responsible for planning and organizing Broadridge's responsibilities and actions related to any client or industry initiated project. They are also responsible to provide support for Broadridge. Dataphile products to internal and external clients and to support sales and marketing on new client initiatives.


Key Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Execute projects and conversions of all sizes including project initiation, planning, monitoring, execution and closing
  • Manage direct and indirect personnel assigned as resources under any projects cross functional team
  • Create and present detailed project plans using Microsoft project including resource allocations, keeping stakeholders and project sponsors fully informed on milestones, and issues/actions status
  • Managing day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
  • Reviewing deliverables prepared by team before passing to client
  • Minimizing firm and client exposure and risk on the project
  • Communicating relevant project information to all stakeholders
  • Communicating with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
  • Other duties as required

For Client Conversions Functions:

  • Create consultative analysis to determine the scope and execution approach for the data conversion
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all client data including assets under administration
  • Determine scope and gap analysis for new business
  • Plan and resource training sessions
  • Document and leverage existing conversion lessons learns and best practices
  • Coordinate, lead and manage the actual conversion activities

Key Abilities:

  • Financial/brokerage experience and specifically the securities industry
  • Ascertain the business priority of project tasks, problems, risks and accurately prioritize solutions for each
  • Able to be consultative with solutions and create a win/win client service focused approach
  • Capable of doing research and investigation for business and technical problem resolution
  • Able to gather requirements and write detailed business specifications
  • Quickly be able to determine and define who is accountable, responsible, consulted for each project task
  • Possess skills that will allow you to motivate indirect and direct reports to carry out assigned tasks
  • Hold the business acumen to make on-the-spot business decisions, representing Broadridge as necessary
  • Able to rollout new products including training and documentation
  • Possesses the ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully

Basic Skill Level Requirements


Education:

  • Canadian Securities Course / Investment Funds Institute of Canada Course
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Computer Science is a plus
  • Project Management Training (PMI) Certification
  • Industry training in development tools and products
  • Training in system integration life cycle methodology

Tools:

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Visio and Project
  • Working knowledge on the suite of Broadridge Dataphile products
  • Strong knowledge and experience with IDA and MFDA distribution of Mutual Funds including FundSERV and ESG

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience working in a Financial Services Back Office Operations environment *preferably having been with Dataphile systems
  • Minimum 3 years' experience back office systems conversions experience in a similar role

Must Have Skills:

  • Conversion experience
  • Broadridge Dataphile system experience
  • Brokerage Back Office knowledge
  • Project Management skills
  • Excellent communication skills required to effectively listen and understand customer requirements and Broadridge Dataphile products

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Able to execute basic maneuvering within UNIX operating system
  • Understand basic programming and able to write simple SQL queries
  • Strong presentation skills
