British Columbia Securities Commission

Centrally located in downtown Vancouver, the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) administers the Securities Act. Our mission is to foster fair and efficient capital markets and a competitive securities industry. We are an independent agency accountable to the legislature and the public through the Minister of Finance.

Job Overview

Are you looking for a new challenge? As the Database Administrator in a largely Microsoft-based environment, you will deliver reliable, extensible database systems to meet the tactical and strategic needs of the Commission. The Database Administrator will also create and extend data models, define technical architectures, and create and administer numerous databases. In addition, you will mentor and guide developers, and participate in project teams. You will report to the Manager, Systems Development.

Qualifications

The qualifications of the successful candidate include:

  • A technical diploma or university degree in computer science or management information systems or other relevant program
  • A minimum of five years database administrator experience
  • A sound understanding of database technologies
  • MS SQL Server expert who is comfortable in a Microsoft-based environment
  • A thorough understanding of SQL Server 2012/2016, as well as work experience with SSIS and SSAS
  • The ability to meet deadlines, be reliable and a team player.
