Newton Investment Management is a global investment management firm, founded in 1978 and owned by BNY Mellon. We manage $67.5 billion (as at September 30 2018) for clients around the world including public and private-sector pension plans, corporations and endowments, and, via our parent company, individuals. We use bottom-up security selection tied with a thematic framework to create and manage strategies that help secure our clients’ futures, with particular expertise in absolute-return, income-focused, high conviction and sustainable investing. Our North American team is currently at an exciting stage, and the focus for this role will be to support the team’s growth objectives by generating awareness of the Newton brand and reinforcing consideration of our strategies.
This role will focus on Newton’s marketing efforts in North America for both institutional and intermediary clients. However, as a member of a relatively small marketing team, the individual will also be required to collaborate closely with London-based digital, content and channel colleagues to deliver both North American and wider global projects.
In addition to key stakeholders in the Newton commercial team, the role will partner very closely with our marketing and sales colleagues in BNY Mellon Investment Management and BNY Mellon Private Wealth who are responsible for the distribution of Newton products to intermediary clients in North America.
The role sits within the channel marketing team (part of the wider Newton marketing team), which includes a further two channel marketers and reports to the Head of Channel Marketing (London).
Develop, maintain and execute the North America Strategic Marketing Plan (inclusive of activities for Institutional, Intermediary - Dreyfus/BNYM IM - and clients).
Develop, execute and report on marketing campaigns for North America (across channels)
Act as a conduit for the Head of channel marketing and London-based marketing team in the US
Develop strong stakeholder relationships and work effectively with other colleagues in Newton and BNY Mellon to achieve North American (and global where appropriate) marketing goals and strategy
Develop and execute on high-touch events throughout the year (and across the US)
Work closely with the compliance team to ensure a robust marketing/ compliance/ performance working framework and to ensure that all materials are compliant
Develop creative and innovative solutions to promote the Newton brand and generate awareness in a cost and time-effective manner using the full marketing toolkit
Creatively leverage technology and various media to further build Newton’s brand in North America
Track and report marketing campaign performance, reinforcing a test and learn approach to ensure ongoing refinement
Coordinate the production of communications materials including factsheets, newsletters, etc., for the NA marketplace
Ensure materials and thought leadership are developed to appeal to an American audience, identifying opportunities for leverage from other markets or specific items tailor-made to the region
Maintain North America marketing budget
Maintain North American marketing and event calendar
Develop relationships with 3rd party suppliers
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of work experience required.
At least 5 years’ experience in an institutionally focused channel marketing role within an asset management environment
In addition to a solid understanding and experience of the North American institutional landscape, a knowledge of the NA intermediary and wholesale market is also required
Proven success in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, including gaining buy-in to proposals
Experience of generating awareness for a similar business in its early growth stages would be advantageous
A self-starter with a willingness and determination to drive projects through
Knowledge of the US investment landscape, and hunger to develop a full understanding of Newton’s distribution arrangements
Strong understanding of capital markets and investment management-related data
Willingness to travel between the UK and US
Team player with strong attention to detail
