This is a permanent, full time role located at Yonge and Sheppard. The Application Software Developer is accountable for leading projects through the analysis, design, development, implementation and support of applications to ensure and/or maintain alignment with the Lines of Business (LOBs) strategies
Generally 3-5 years of work experience in IT or business environment and/or B.S./B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems, math or business
3 to 5 years of experience developing enterprise applications in Java
Nice to Have – 3 to 5 years of Goofy (similar to Java)
Possesses a knowledge of design and analysis methodologies and application development processes from both an industry and BMO perspective
Knowledge of Payment systems, especially SWIFT/FED and Emerging Payment;
Is able to write and execute unit test cases, especially with jUnit, and assists with integration and user acceptance testing.
Possesses proven, working experience in test-driven Java development, as well in scripting for Linux shell and Python
Has experience writing oracle PL/SQL, stored procedures, functions, etc.
Has experience working under both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
Is capable of writing Regular Expression for ELK and Maven build script
Possesses a reasonable understanding in automatic deployment process, e.g. Ansible, Maven
Candidate should have an analytical mindset to be able to review and contribute to users requirements and design and develop highly efficient code for high-volume, mission-critical systems
Demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and verbal; is comfortable speaking not just with team members and can explain complex concepts simply and concisely
Is a team player who is willing to share knowledge and make the effort to document findings for the team’s benefit
Has the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
Can work with minimal supervision and is flexible and a fast learner
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
Good understanding of Agile development methodology
Experience working with source code version control process such as Git & Bitbucket or similar tools
