Relationship and Professional Development Lead, I&CB Canada and International At BMO Financial Group

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Description

Key Accountabilities
  • The incumbent is responsible for supporting the management, career development and retention of the Analyst and Associate professionals for Investment & Corporate Banking. Working with the, BMO CM Learning team (within Professional Development), Human Resources, CM Campus Recruiting team, Analyst and Associate Coordinator, , Staffers and Strategy & Business Management team to build and retain a team of highly qualified, diverse and successful professionals.
  • The incumbent will perform an integral coordinator role in supporting full-time Analyst and Associate professional groups as well as managing and administering the on boarding, intake training and development events/activities for all Investment & Corporate Banking new hires (summer, coop and full-time).
  • This position may require travel to other BMO CM offices within North America.
  • As an individual with a sound understanding of the business, the incumbent will have credibility with Analyst and Associate professionals and the Investment & Corporate Banking leadership team.
  • This role requires both tactical leadership and management capabilities. More specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Building the Investment & Corporate Banking full-time class to ensure they have the world class skills, tools and processes necessary to deliver outstanding service in their roles
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and mentor to Analyst and Associate professionals, and as a partner to the Group Heads and Staffers by providing an I&CB-wide perspective and work with the U.S. Relationship and PD lead, and Global Head of PD to develop forward-thinking strategies to address the broader groups development needs.
  • Improving retention by addressing Analyst and Associate professionals’ issues and concerns as well as focusing on their technical and career development, thereby achieving high job satisfaction.
  • Providing career development coaching and conducting knowledgeable career discussions, providing insights for future career endeavors including internal opportunities (both in and outside of I&CB as relevant), external referrals and professional networking contacts.
  • Acting as a central point person and champion for Analyst and Associate professionals as they grow within the organization.
  • The incumbent will work closely with each Staffer in the assessment of employees and in providing regular feedback.
  • Working closely with the I&CB PD leads, Human Resources and the BMO CM Learning team to provide input and support regarding the development of a best-in-class on boarding and training program which continues to support further development of Analyst and Associate professionals after their completion of the initial training program
  • Managing on-boarding of and ongoing communication with Analyst and Associate professionals, having them contribute to and be part of a larger peer group as well as being integrated into their respective rotational assignments
  • Ensuring that Diversity initiatives are reinforced in the management of Analyst and Associate professionals, recruitment strategy, placement and retention

Qualifications

Knowledge:
  • Undergraduate or Graduate business degree preferred
  • 7 years of work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Investment & Corporate Banking preferred
  • Experience in instructional design and/or facilitation an asset
Skills:
  • Strong advisory/consulting skills
  • Energetic, motivated, solutions-oriented to retain high performing talent
  • Comfortable working at both the conceptual and the hands-on level
  • Strong attention to detail; very organized
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated high performance track record
  • Able to work in a matrix/team environment
  • Ability to interact with leaders at all levels of the organization including executives
