Job Description

Key Attributes

  • L ead intake of identified issues associated with the entire technology organization activities.
  • Responsible for: interactions with regulators, universe of regulatory requirements, risk assessment, monitoring, testing, issues management and reporting for all technology.
  • Responsible for interactions with CAD on new examinations, progress of the remediation activities and other ad hoc requests.
  • Responsible for interactions with risk management on new examinations, progress of the remediation activities and other ad hoc requests.
  • Participate in TBCG Working Group meetings, Technology Control Committee (TCC) working group meetings to fulfill the TBGC mandate.
  • Play a leadership role in managing BMO’s technology risk by staying well-informed on regulatory changes, upcoming draft regulations, knowledge of regulations and technical compliance material.
  • Play a leadership role in driving the analysis and coordinating assessments of significant identified technology risks and issues to understand the complete regulatory impact and ensure that identified technology issues are managed within the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Monitor and ensure risk mitigation and operational control processes are effectively in place and complied with for front line organization transactional activities.

Qualifications

Key Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of the bank’s risk appetite, policy, reporting structure, procedures and processes.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory mandates, rules, regulations and technical compliance material where bank operates and banks’ internal compliance frameworks, policies and procedures

  • Strong understanding of the technology and risk management organization, landscape and disciplines.

  • Superior relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to establish a trusted advisor relationship with internal stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in order to meet deadlines while ensuring high quality of work produced.

  • Excellent team player with demonstrated relationship management skills and a strong ability to make things happen through the use of positive influence.

  • Superior communication (written, oral and presentation) skills with the ability to understand complex information and summarize in a clear, concise fashion.

  • Advanced facilitation, influence management, consensus building, presentation skills and the ability to present to senior management and executive audiences.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and set expectations to ensure that all stakeholders are considered.

  • Clear-thinking with the ability to consistently deliver high quality work under pressure with the ability to act fast, within tight time frames and limited direction.

  • Excellent conceptualization, presentation and communication skills in working with senior executives, managers, auditors and regulators.

  • Critical thinking, ability to capture enterprise view and team building skills.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 10 or more years of Regulatory Compliance, Risk, Controls or Corporate Audit experience.

  • 7 or more years of IT experience in Financial Services Industry.

  • Advanced knowledge of Regulatory Mandates, Rules, Regulations, Draft Regulations, Technical Compliance material.

  • One or more of CISA, CPA/CA, CIA and CISSP designation would be an asset.
