Developer Specialist - ServiceNow At BMO Financial Group

Job Description

This role is located at 4100 Gordon Baker Rd (SCC) in Scarborough, ON. The primary objective of the position is to carry out various development opportunities within the Service Now platform that underpins IT Service Management functions. The role sits within the ITSM Tools Development Team and is tasked with delivering solutions that integrate various enterprise systems in a hybrid cloud environment. The role requires advanced to mastery skills that enable the individual to deliver a high level of service and to meet the expectation from the business, as well as a very solid understanding of an enterprise IT infrastructure operational environment and industry best practice.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manage ServiceNow instances, including the overall security of the platform, configuring Service Level Agreements, developing workflows, business rules, UI pages, UI actions, UI policies, catalog items etc. and updates of all other existing solutions requiring revisions
  • Develop, design, configure and rollout of new application modules, workflows, catalog requests, scripts, user interface and other ServiceNow platform component
  • Create and maintain of ServiceNow tables and/or views as necessary
  • Create and manage Web Service integrations using SOAP and REST
  • Load, transform and maintain data interfaces between ServiceNow and other systems
  • Monitor logs, performance and overall health of ServiceNow instances
  • Relentless pursuit of quality and complete adherence to coding and quality standards
  • Respond to and address customer issues and inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Develop and document best practice approaches and reusable assets
  • Provide detailed architecture analysis and design, and direction on the development activities
  • Document technical architectures that are clearly understood by clients, developers and testers
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation related to the application administration and configuration
  • Educate clients and negotiates the right technical solutions to meet their business needs
  • Remain abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.
  • Research and deploy new releases, applications and enhancements as necessary
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, standards, working methods, and tools
  • Complete job responsibilities utilizing predefined release and change management processes
  • Participate in business requirement gathering process when new opportunities arise
  • Combine business knowledge and analytic insight with programming skills to develop applications to meet specific business requirements
  • Deliver a positive and value-added experience to clients in every interaction
  • Respond to and manage service issues and problems as tier 3 application level support
  • Responsible for awareness and compliance to policy and guidelines of the ISM
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Technical Competencies
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow database architecture
  • Experience (3-5 years) supporting web-based applications
  • Experience (3-5 years) developing applications utilizing JavaScript or GlideScript
  • Experience (3-5 years) Implementing and maintaining ITSM Tools
  • Experience (3-5 years) with web UI development technologies including XML/HTML/CSS etc.
  • Experience (3-5 years) with Incident Management, Service Request Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management and other ITIL process areas
  • Experience (3-5 years) using web services for systems integration (SOAP and/or REST)
  • Experience working closely with SME’s, project managers, and process owners to capture business requirements
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and Software as a Service (SaaS) architecture
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Knowledge of IT service management and the ITIL service operations and transition processes
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Knowledge of Identity Management / Authentication approaches / integrations (LDAP, Active Directory)
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues

Core Competencies:
  • Possesses solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent long-term client / supervisor / peer relationships
  • Proven capability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines

Nice to have:
  • ITIL Foundations Certification or existing knowledge
  • ServiceNow Administrator Certification or existing knowledge
  • ServiceNow Implementation Specialist Certification or existing knowledge
  • Experience using Remedy and HP Asset Manager
  • MS platform and scripting knowledge
  • SQL server database knowledge
  • Canadian Banking industry experience

WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment provides minimal exposure to discomfort or risk to safety. This job requires work to be performed during off hours for occasional on-call support, implementation, and Disaster Recovery exercises.
