Position Summary

Black & McDonald is actively seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Southern Ontario Region (SOR) and provide assistance to our Alternative Delivery and Major Projects’ team. The successful candidate will oversee the survey and prospect of new business opportunities within the marketplace with special attention given to the predominant markets in the territory. They will lead, prepare and execute sales tasks in alignment with regional sales strategies which include oversight and participation in proposal preparation and delivery.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain business relations with all target accounts
  • Develop significant business relations within the marketplace on behalf of the company
  • Lead and develop RFP & RFQ responses as part of the bid team
  • Presentation preparation and delivery
  • Significant interaction with technical staff and associates
  • Prepare progress reports and communicate with internal and external customers
  • Provide input to proposal preparation and coordination, including editing and red team review of other bids
  • Track sales plan and performance in comparison to strategy
  • Participate and contribute to the region’s annual planning process in order to develop an effective Business Development plan that aligns with Regional Objectives
  • Plan, organize and execute sales presentations and meetings
  • Prioritize and coordinate sales activities and resources
  • Track sales activity in Salesforce

Education & Skill Requirements

  • 10+ years’ sales/BD experience in a similar role in a construction services environment
  • Degree/diploma in Business Administration (preferably with a technical background) and/or advanced degree/diploma in a construction related discipline an asset
  • Previous experience servicing, supporting, developing and generating major accounts
  • Experience developing and implementing a successful business development plan
  • High performer who has the ability to handle multiple or concurrent tasks as part of a bid team
  • Ability to write, present and interface at a high level, i.e. with owners, C-level, developers, builders, consultants and colleagues in Operations or Construction
  • Software application expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SalesForce
