Payroll/Benefits Administrator At BigSteelBox

Location: Kelowna, British Columbia

Job Description

JOB TITLE: Payroll and Benefits Administrator

LOCATION: Kelowna

BigSteelBox - Canada’s most diversified shipping container company - is looking for a Payroll and

Benefits Administrator to work out of its’ Kelowna Head Office.


Working under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the role will primarily be performing Payroll

and Benefits Administration, however will also have other Finance and Insurance administration

duties.


This is a full-time position Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm starting as soon as possible. Salary is

dependent on experience, benefits will be provided after 3 months and a matching RRSP program

will be provided after 1 year.


With a network of locations across Canada, BigSteelBox services both residential and commercial

customers. The company has three dynamic business streams – residential moving and storage;

construction and commercial storage; and structures (workforce housing and modifications for

industrial use), BigSteelBox has its head office in Kelowna, BC and has 23 full service locations

across Canada


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A minimum of 3 years payroll and benefits administration experience required.
  • Level 1 CPA Payroll Compliance Practitioner required or actively working towards.
  • Excellent Excel skills required.
  • Multi-provincial payroll processing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce now preferable with Timberline experience an asset.
  • A recognized diploma or certificate in accounting and or business would be an asset.
  • A good working knowledge of Outlook and Word and Microsoft Suite of products required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensure timely processing of hourly and salaried bi-monthly ADP and Timberline payrolls in

accordance with applicable labour regulations of each province and in compliance with

applicable company policies.

  • Prepare payroll accounting journal entries and accruals each pay period.
  • Reconcile payroll journals with GL related accounts each pay period
  • Create and maintain employee files.
  • Ensure all employees are appropriately registered with our benefits provider.
  • Maintains and ensure accuracy of the payroll database and processes all necessary

updates/corrections (i.e new hires / terminations / salary changes / banking details,

address change, group benefits deductions, etc...).

  • Respond promptly to all employees’ payroll/group benefit related inquiries.
  • File GST/PST monthly reports.
  • Coordinate corporate truck fleet insurance and driver licensing requirements.
