We are currently seeking a Talent Development Coach (TDC) to maximize the potential of our people working in an Agile environment. Our Digital Transformation at Best Buy is massive. The Talent Development Coach will be counted on as an ambassador to both IT and the organization as a whole - and will be an integral part of the success of our people, and in bringing on new, amazing talent as our eCommerce department grows.

This is a unique opportunity because...

  • Many of our IT employees don't have a manager in the traditional sense. The coach will fill the 'People' part of the function in a non-reporting capacity.
  • We are one of a handful of organizations in Canada that are embarking on this journey. The Coach is truly creating something new. You will be breaking ground.
  • We are all learning. This means that much of where we'll be in the future still needs to be researched, decided, and built. You are being hired to build this plan in conjunction with your fellow coaches, Senior Leadership, and your clients.

As a Talent Development Coach you will...

  • Serve as a trusted partner to the employee; you will gather and share feedback through various vehicles to help them identify their strengths and opportunities.
  • Facilitate Career Development of your clients, ensuring they are building the competencies to help them advance. Facilitation is a key term - the coach doesn't personally teach a developer better code for example. Instead, they identify and leverage mentorship and learning opportunities for their client to activate.
  • Create a culture of learning, guiding individuals in formulating a career plan, and providing them with tools to assist in their journey.
  • Help employees embrace and crave change; while pushing the organization for better tools, processes, and resources to facilitate our growth.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities within your client group, and collaborate to build and implement action plans that bring extra value to the Product/Retail stream and eCommerce as a whole.
  • Leverage your unique and valuable perspective on the health of our eCommerce division to facilitate the company's Talent Strategy as it relates to Organizational Needs, Talent Review, and Succession Planning.
  • Play an important role in Talent Acquisition, strategically helping our Recruitment team understand the needs and competencies, while tactically serving as the evaluator for cultural fit.
  • Be a champion of change leadership, both at a strategic and individual level. This will be a core component of your daily routine.
  • Act as a strong partner to Practice Leads and vocal champion of their communities, ensuring the technical acumen of each community of practice is better than it was yesterday.

The experience we need...

  • You have 4 to 6 years' experience in human resources management or business, with a focus on coaching, development, and facilitation
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business, Communication, BSc, or Psychology

Bonus Points...

  • You have 2 to 3 years' experience in a lead role in an Agile or flat structure
  • You're a certified Scrum Master or the equivalent
  • You have a designation in Certified Coaching, Conflict Management, or Facilitation
