Our Network team plans, designs, builds and operates Bell’s multi-billion dollar networks, including the continued expansion of our fibre optic network, HSPA+ and LTE — Canada’s largest and fastest wireless network.

Role:

Reporting to the Director of TV and Network Engineering, the Senior Manager, Media and Creative Technology Systems Support is responsible for leading a highly technical team Media Technology Analysts and Systems Specialists that support many of our critical Media storage/compute/delivery platforms, technical software driven workflows, and end user systems supporting our Bell Media creative teams.


The successful candidate will be an individual that thrives in an environment full of change and transformation of people, process, and technology. The role involves engagement and collaboration across a wide range of internal and external partners with scope of influence across Bell Media stations throughout the entire country.

The position demands a senior, seasoned technology professional with exceptional oral and written communication, influence and coaching skills, a strong sense of ownership, and an orientation towards fostering effective teams that are continuously improving.


Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Lead a technical team in identifying, driving, and partnering with other teams to devise innovative solutions to complex technical challenges as well as continuous improvement initiatives with systems and workflows.
  • Work in collaboration with business partners and other technical groups in Media on the strategies for growth and evolution of the many systems, infrastructure, and software that drives the core of content storage, delivery, and processing within the organization.
  • Provide strategic technology direction and support the career growth and development of team within a rapidly changing industry.
  • Develop team members through active coaching and mentoring.
  • Foster and build on an environment of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Exemplify and drive our Network 3.0 values with emphasis on transformation, collaboration, experimentation and innovation.
  • Establish, maintain, and grow the relationship with our internal and external partners through close engagement and collaboration.

Qualifications / Competencies:

  • A demonstrated strong ability and desire to collaborate with other technical teams, business and vendor partners to solve problems and improve how the work is done.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated with a high degree of personal initiative, but must also be able to work within and drive collaboration in a team environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to align a team to the ideas of innovation, experimentation, and transformation.
  • Ability to develop the overall capabilities of the team by maximizing each team member’s abilities and the structure of work activities within the team.
  • Ability to influence and gain stakeholder alignment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to describe detailed technical systems to a non-technical audience.
  • Technical background and knowledge in the areas of Virtualization, large scale storage (DAS, SAN, NAS, LTO Tape Libraries), system automation & scripting tools, databases, software development, MacOS, RedHat, JAMF, Avid/Adobe editing systems.
  • University degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working within a Media/Broadcast environment is very desirable.
