AlarmForce is looking for a key member of the technology team to help build a new reporting capability within the organization – one that empowers business users with the right tools to drive their own analysis. The perfect candidate will combine deep technical knowledge and a solid understanding of business intelligence and associated trends with the ability to directly work with business users.
Interacting directly with business stakeholders at all levels of the organization and across all functions including Bell Canada, our parent company, to deliver business intelligence solutions.
Maintaining and developing the business intelligence infrastructure required to enable those solutions; the infrastructure that delivers a substantial number of reports, scorecards, dashboards, ad-hoc SQL queries and moves the increasingly growing volumes of data between our suppliers, partners, Bell Canada, and our systems.
Performing routine database maintenance including re-builds, de-fragmentation, re-indexing, expansion, back-ups and archiving.
Providing DBA support on projects as assigned, assisting with installations, database loading, testing, etc.
Performing Sybase 15.x and MS SQL device configuration, installations, stored procedures development and SQL script writing, BCP, Warm Standby Replication
Designing, developing and testing core organizational reports based on multiple data sources, troubleshoot and facilitate solutions to reporting issues
Maintaining data-related documentation:
data dictionary, calculations, logic and business rules
Facilitating and participating in workshops to analyze and define report requirements with business stakeholders
Serving as a bridge between business users of reports and the technology team on all data-related projects
Developing, maintaining and enhancing database modules and system components
Providing timely and high-quality root-cause analysis for production support
Influencing business decisions by developing and institutionalizing data-driven analytics
Providing BI insights to enable the organization to better understand and serve both existing, and prospective customers to achieve growth.
The CRM solution is targeted to be implemented by November 2018 and for the business intelligence capability to be fully realized by the organization a DBA should be engaged early in the process.
A Database Administrator would also free up existing resources at the management level who currently spend a collective average of 19 days, on a monthly basis with reporting and data manipulation.
There are existing gaps in reporting and business intelligence that would be addressed with a DBA. Some of these gaps include but are not limited to:
Bell Discount Reporting:
Newly deployed field in SBN with no reporting capabilities to gain valuable business insights.
No reporting insight into data on files that were sold but did not end up getting installed.
No reporting insight into why talk times are longer for call centre agents.
No reporting insight into which products have greater issues compared to others.
Education / Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years of BI experience in various database environments, including:
5+ years of hands-on Sybase DBA experience
5+ years of MS SQL Server experience using SSRS, SSAS, IIS and/or with Microsoft Dynamics 365
3+ years’ experience with data modeling and designing reporting data marts
Hands-on experience developing custom integrations between Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other applications
Deep, demonstrable understanding of Business Intelligence best practices
Strong analytical thinking
Strong Excel and VBA skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Bachelor's degree in business or computer related disciplines
Experience with designing and developing BI reporting application/tools
Experience analyzing end-user requirements, performing data analysis, and developing reporting specifications
Experience with SharePoint and Power BI would be highly desirable
Proficiency in Shell, PERL, Java, python script writing
Experience in preparing reports for financial statements on a timely basis
Run ad-hoc database queries to support delivery of ad-hoc reporting requirements as required; RFIs, marketing presentations, regulatory, legal and compliance reporting and financial statement support
Experience with SAGE, infrastructure (servers, VMware) would be considered an asset
Must be available to work out of the head office in Toronto from Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
