Our human resources team at BC Transit is growing, times
two! We are seeking two new HR Business Consultants to
bring on board:
one full time regular, and one full time
temporary for up to 12 months.
The HR Business Consultant manages the day-to-day
delivery of a wide range of Human Resources programs and
services to management, employees, client groups and the
Human Resources Division.
Provides expertise and coaching in the application
of best practices to people-related issues in all
facets of Human Resources such as labour relations,
progressive discipline, recruitment, compensation,
job evaluation/descriptions, performance management,
employee engagement, recognition, training and
development, succession planning and
Leads in the development and/or review of Human
Resources programs and policies; liaises with
government agencies and Human Resources
practitioners in other organizations.
Researches practices, trends and emerging issues,
documents findings and prepares recommendations to
the Senior Leadership Team; monitors results;
continuously reviews and identifies opportunities
for improvement; maintains professional knowledge
and keeps abreast of changes and new and emerging
trends or information in the industry.
Develops effective working relationships with all
levels of staff and management; consults with
Directors and Managers within an assigned client
group to identify and develop strategies in support
of the implementation of key human resources
priorities; conducts initial assessment of issues,
responds to queries and provides guidance and
information, ensuring compliance with Human
Resources policies, procedures and legislative
requirements while interpreting and applying the
various collective agreements.
Communicates one-on-one and in-group situations to
explain elements of Human Resources programs,
initiatives, policies and procedures to management,
employees, client groups and the Senior Leadership
Prepares presentations and reports for a variety of
audiences including customers, employees,
management, Senior Leadership Team and Board of
Utilizes HRIS to review employee-related data and
respond to queries related to employee records.
May represent Human Resources on various BC Transit
Knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques
of the human resources field and related legislation
with a desire to continuously develop, expand and
share expertise in the field of Human Resources.
Background in collective bargaining is an asset.
Education and Experience
Post secondary degree in Human Resources plus a
minimum four (4) years experience. An equivalent
combination of education, training and experience
may be considered.
Proven experience providing advice and support to
senior managers on strategic matters in a unionized
environment and coaching supervisors in the
interpretation and application of collective
Experience leading projects and implementing new
