Business Support Manager At BC Housing

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Job Description

The Business Support Manager is part of a team of Business Support Managers responsible for establishing a close working relationship with the Managers in assigned business area(s) and providing expert advice and support in managing and improving business area processes and systems. The position determines business requirements, conducts feasibility/impact analyses of information management services and technology, and ensures processes, services and technology solutions are developed and delivered to meet business and service delivery requirements. The incumbents provide research, analysis, data stewardship, reporting, and project management expertise in accomplishing objectives.

The Business Support Managers in Operations are responsible for supporting BC Housing’s three core systems (Housing Connections, the Central Property System, and JDE1), as well as a dozen smaller systems and databases

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g. commerce, accounting, economics, computing science, business administration, social science) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience training adult learners in a workplace environment.
  • A minimum three years experience in business analysis (requirements and solutions design), process modelling, business reporting design and development. Experience in reporting systems design, development, testing, implementation and data management (analysis and modelling).Project management experience as a project manager of a defined project following the standard Project Life Cycle, and experience in process mapping and process re-engineering projects (including data and reporting analysis).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Considerable knowledge of and expertise in mission-critical corporate applications including Housing Connections, CPS and JD Edwards.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s structure and business operations
  • Ability to plan and manage small to medium size projects or portions of larger projects, manage teams of staff and contractors in the change management, development and implementation of system solutions, and work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in productivity applications such as MS Excel, Word, Project and Visio
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them through to completion
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong planning, organization and project leadership/management skills
  • Strategic orientation, detail orientation and well developed business acumen
  • Strong initiative to identify and promote opportunities to improve existing systems and procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure in meeting deadlines and changing priorities.
