Global Director of Marketing - Cardiology At Baylis Medical

Baylis Medical develops and markets high-technology medical devices used in the fields of electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, interventional radiology, and spinal procedures. Our vision is to develop and market innovative medical therapies while Improving the Lives of People Around the World.

Our RF Puncture System is the world’s leading technology when it comes to creating controlled perforations in cardiac and vascular tissues. It is now the recognized worldwide gold standard for treating pathologies in left heart chambers. Electrophysiologists use the NRG® RF Transseptal Needle and supporting medical device access products to create safe and controlled transseptal punctures. Our portfolio is expanding rapidly, with significant investment in new product offerings. Baylis is privately owned, fosters collaboration and has the ability to act quickly on decisions.

Baylis has offices in Montreal and Toronto (Canada), Boston (USA), London (U.K.) and Munich (Germany). We have been growing steadily and expect this growth to continue. Baylis is a vertically integrated company that develops, manufactures and distributes products on a global basis.

The Opportunity

This role is responsible for the management and execution of an effective marketing plan to achieve optimum results and revenue objectives. This individual will drive upstream and downstream strategic marketing. This includes ensuring the execution of currently available and next generation products.

The Global Director of Marketing will have significant interaction helping to set the strategic vision of the company along with the executive staff. This includes new markets, new product and new therapies. In this role, the leader is charged with understanding market trends and conditions along with the application of Baylis technology. Expertise in pricing theory is a plus. This role will also be charged with supporting the field-based direct sales teams and must work collaboratively to manage plans and ensure that customer targeting, messaging, sales tools and marketing programs are impactful.

Reporting to the President in our Toronto office, the Global Director of Marketing will lead the marketing function for the organization. As the champion for customer centricity, marketing functional excellence and marketing talent development, he/she will work very closely with the President and sales functions to drive marketing discipline, planning and executing in both product management and go to market strategies.

The Team

Our Marketing team today consists of approximately 14 individuals in the areas of Product Management, Clinical Education and Biomedical Communications.

Key Requirements

Strategic Plan Development: You have proven success in developing and updating a long-term strategic plan along with work in annual operating plan performance. This includes product portfolio management needed to ensure long-term market share growth.

Marketing Leadership Experience: You have proven success leading all aspects of a global high performance Medical Device marketing team with sales over $500M. Experience selling premium products offering excellent value is required. Both upstream and downstream expertise is required. You have experience developing and driving a comprehensive marketing strategy including digital, traditional tactics and conference presence.

Sales Perspective: You have excellent judgement in regards to making sound business and have proven ability in developing a healthy and collaborative relationship with Sales, R&D and other functional areas. You have the ability to develop and implement the company’s marketing strategy across key market segments to optimize our aggressive growth plans.

People Leadership: Deliver strategic leadership, mentor and grow the marketing team. Establish an effective growth process and infrastructure. Develop collaborative working relationships within the organization (HR, Sales, R&D, Finance, Operations) in pursuit of the of the company’s overall business goals

her Requirements:

  • 20+ years of experience in Sales and/or Marketing, Medtech industry preferred, preferably with international experience

  • 10 + years of proven U.S. experience as head of marketing or similar role with global responsibilities would be an asset

  • Demonstrable experience in developing efficient strategies and business plans for all marketing aspects (branding, product promotion etc.), in the medical device industry would be an asset

  • Upstream and downstream marketing experience in a highly competitive medical device market

  • Ability to apply marketing techniques over digital (e.g. social media) and non-digital (e.g. press) channels

  • A leader with both creative and analytical capabilities

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including sales and marketing leadership.

  • Strong and collaborative team player who can incorporate input from others and can generate consensus through inclusion.

  • Experience in a high growth business

  • Ability to travel on regular basis throughout North America and Europe.


  • BSc/BA in business administration, marketing, communications or relevant field required, MSc/MA/MBA preferred
