IT Systems Analyst At Banff Jasper Collection by Pursuit

Responsibilities

The Systems Analyst will act a key liaison and lead between business representatives, IT development and other IT representatives for implementation and support of all assigned application projects, major changes, and new software solutions. The Analyst will actively partner with project management, development, testing and other IT engineers as a team to successfully deliver new IT initiatives to meet approved business needs.

As part of a small, multi-disciplinary team, he or she may from time to time be asked to perform any task in the software development life cycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, training, implementation or support.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Lead and facilitate data gathering sessions with business for delivery of application solutions
  • Actively gather, build and outline detailed business requirements and system specifications
  • Actively work with IT development to resolve issues and prepare system solutions, including creation of functional and technical requirement deliverables for development, and communicate needed changes to all key stakeholders
  • Design, build, and maintain software solutions
  • Actively participate in system test planning and execution; facilitate user acceptance testing as required; create and implement test scripts working in tandem with the business; lead testing efforts
  • Actively lead smaller projects and IT initiatives independently as needed
  • Work closely with business management to identify business process dependencies, and prioritize business goals
  • Work in conjunction with the Viad Global Service Desk to resolve application issues, ensuring issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in business and IT planning meetings as required
  • Prepare activity and status reports to manager and business stakeholders as required
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • BSc or BA in Computer Science or a related discipline, with 5+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years working experience with C#, ASP.Net MVC, AngularJS (or similar JS framework) and with MS SQL Server
  • A strong understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Deep technical understanding of application and database design and development
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; with ability to communicate difficult and sensitive information to the business
  • Systems testing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work very effectively in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Maintains a strong attention to detail at all times with consistency during high-pressure and time-sensitive situations
  • Solid understanding of all IT functions and roles within the software development lifecycle including feasibility analysis, business /systems process reengineering, change management and IT project management
  • Working knowledge of MSOffice and Visio
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and organization skills
  • Excellent business and technical presentation skills
  • Working experience documenting business process workflows, procedures, and redesigns highly desired
  • General understanding of SOX controls and processes is desired
  • Working experience with agile software delivery best practices and principles
  • Position is in office setting, however, may require limited travel for business support
  • Some occasional after-hours on-call support may be required
  • This position reports to the Applications Development Manager
  • The extensive range of data maintained will expose the HSM to sensitive and confidential information, confidentiality is a strict requirement for the position
