We currently have an opening for a Transportation
Manager in our Niagara-on-the-Lake office. The
successful individual is expected to be well-connected
within the Ontario - particularly the larger GTA –
municipal transportation market- technically competent,
business savvy, entrepreneurial in nature, and eager to
embrace the exciting challenge of raising the profile
and success of our Transportation Group in the fiercely
competitive Ontario and Canadian markets.
Working with a dynamic team in a collaborative work
environment, the Transportation Manager will be based
primarily out of Niagara-on-the-Lake office but will be
required to engage, collaborate and share resources with
our other Ontario offices in Markham and Kitchener. The
successful individual will be responsible for the
leadership and management of this group and interface
across Ontario, delivering services in the areas of:
Transportation Master Plans
Active Transportation Plans and Studies
Traffic Impact Studies and route assessments
Road Safety assessments, analysis and Impact Studies
Conceptual, Functional and preliminary geometric
This individual will seek to improve AE Ontario’s
position as a growing service provider in the
Transportation market locally by working with the other
groups, divisions and offices. The successful candidate
will promote the firm’s vision and culture, meeting the
strategic goals and objectives established in
collaboration with the Management Team and VP & General
Manager. The transition from our current interim
management arrangement will be coordinated over the
first few weeks.

Responsibilities include the following:
Ensuring financial success of the Group within the
Ontario operation through proactive project
management, quality management, hands-on delivery,
and coaching of project managers and project team.
Managing all administration, project delivery,
business development, and strategic planning duties
for the Group within the Ontario operation.
Participating as a member of the senior leadership
team in the Ontario operation and contributing to
discussions to the Transportation market across the
Participating as a technical specialist in the field
of Transportation across the Company.
Monitoring and identifying emerging trends and
technologies in the Transportation field.
Supporting project and proposal delivery across the
Company as required.
Responsible for day-to-day management of projects
and a diverse team.
Liaising with Group Managers and Project Managers in
our other Operations across the Company.
Attending and contributing to technical symposia,
conferences and seminars.
Managing, guiding, mentoring and coordinating staff.
Assigning resources to projects, projects and
Assigning tasks to engineers and technologists, and
supervising delegated tasks for content, quality and
completion in assigned hours.
Executing business development and marketing
Identifying and securing the necessary work for the
Group including pre-positioning efforts and
strategic partnering discussions.
Leading the Group pursuit process including critical
Go/No-Go review evaluation, proposal preparation
effort, technical content and time-task fee
development, as well as pursuit approval from
Division Manager, VP and General Manager and Board,
Ensuring that all technical and administrative
aspects of our services are being performed in a
manner consistent with the Company’s goals,
standards, and performance objectives.
Ensuring quality and accuracy of designs, reports,
Ensuring project needs are met in an effective and
Developing staffing requirements along with Project
Managers, the Division Manager, the VP and General

Assisting with recruitment, career planning, and
Managing Client, Contractor, and other
Leading the delivery of Municipal Transportation
Managing the team in the planning, analysis,
assessment, engineering and design activities of
municipal transportation projects in collaboration
with other Groups.
Assisting in the development of engineering
concepts, concept reports, and construction budgets.
Preparing technical reports, proposals, design
briefs, and outline design drawings and
Attending client meetings and coordinating meetings
with design teams.

Job Requirements:What you will bring to the table:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Civil,
Transportation preferred) from an accredited
university with preference for a post-graduate
degree in a technical or business-related field.
Registered as a professional engineer with
Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or equivalent.
10+ years of planning, design, project management,
and group management experience in the
5+ years in a consulting capacity in Ontario.
5+ years experience managing, coaching and mentoring
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills,
including strong negotiation, mediation, and
Proven experience in business development and growth
by acting proactively in identifying and
capitalizing on opportunities.
Proven ability to successfully deliver complex
multi-discipline transportation assignments using
recognized project management and quality management
Proven integrity to deal with sensitive, privileged
and confidential employee or client matters.
Proven ability to liaise and manage clients,
contractors, and other consultants’ relationships.
Demonstrated ability to be creative and flexible.
Results oriented and ability to work under pressure.
Excellent prioritization, problem-solving,

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient in use of MS Office Suite of products
