Bridge/Structural Engineer At Associated Engineering

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Job Description

An employee-owned, Canadian company, Associated Engineering provides a broad base of consulting engineering services in the infrastructure, water, transportation, environmental, building, energy, and asset management sectors.

We are currently have an opening for a Bridge/Structural Engineer in our Edmonton office. You will become an integral part of the Transportation Structures Group, and will be responsible for undertaking design and project administration of major and standard bridge projects for a variety of public and private sector clients. You will work with the Transportation Structures team to carry out detailed technical work and lead design teams while managing projects within the defined budget, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Preparing proposals, bid and contract documentation.
  • Completing analysis, design, evaluation and preparation of calculations and drawings.
  • Assisting in marketing and business development opportunities for the structural group.
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting project status internally and externally.
  • Aiding in financial arrangements for projects including fee forecasting, preparation, and allocation.
  • Providing guidance, including mentoring, and instruction, to junior staff.
  • Completing construction inspections.
Job Requirements

What you will bring to the table:

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural engineering from an accredited university; a Postgraduate degree is a strong asset.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Structural engineering.
  • Technical expertise in the design and construction of bridges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage budget, and schedule delivery.
  • Superior planning, and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Committed team player, and highly self-motivated.
  • Related experience with Alberta Transportation, and the City of Edmonton is an asset.
  • Project Management experience is an asset.
  • This position will require occasional travel.
