The W. P. Carey School of Business is looking for an individual who will perform a variety of accounting activities and assignments requiring the application of a professional, competent knowledge of accounting principles and practices as well as using broad discretion and creativity when working on assignments that are varied, diverse and difficult nature. The Accounting Specialist works under the direction of the Lead Accountant to perform all accounts payable and other accounting duties with a positive, respectful, proactive attitude.

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour; DOE

Conduct all day to day accounts payable duties
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding accounts payable transactions
Review accounts and backup to ensure accuracy and compliance with university policies and procedures
Ensure appropriate documentation and approvals prior to processing payment
Prepare requisitions and other purchasing documents
Review travel authorization and expense reports
Approve procurement card transactions
Approve supplies orders
Reconcile ASU Foundation credit card activities
Prepare complex journal entries
Prepare or assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and maintain adequate supporting documents
Provide assistance with audits
Participate in development and implementation of new or revised payment processing
Conduct training to new staff
Work as part of the fiscal team to provide complete and accurate organization support
Establish and maintain positive work relationships with coworkers and collaborative partners
Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field AND one (1) year of related experience; OR,Three (3) years related accounting experience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Experience in A/P function or other related accounting position
Experience in data entry to on-line financial systems such as WorkDay and IFAS
Experience using automated on-line financial systems such as Peoplesoft and Concur
Experience using Microsoft applications including Excel
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills including solid interpersonal and listening skills
Evidence of analytical and problem-solving abilities within a high-volume work environment
Experience in creating and maintaining tracking and/or financial spreadsheets in Excel
Experience in work that requires attention to detail and thoroughness
Evidence of having the willingness to learn and work in a team environment
Work in an office setting and use office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copiers, calculators, telephones).
Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Communicate orally and in writing to perform essential duties.
Read-interpret written and oral instructions/directions.
