Staff Accountant At Arizona Science Center

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Job Description

The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of revenue batches, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end journal entries, bank and balance sheet account reconciliations, and other day-to-day general accounting duties. The Staff Accountant also assists the Controller with the year-end audit.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in all month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Process Payroll bi-weekly and post payroll journals.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist management with GL accounting questions related to their departments.
  • Assist with other areas of accounting and special projects as needed.
  • Review general ledger accounts, research and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable duties.
  • Communicate with vendors via email and phone calls.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a one-year certificate from college or technical school, one to three years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ADP Payroll System experience a plus.
  • Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge is highly preferred and Tessitura software and SAP Concur is also preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
