Sr. Product Manager - Technical At Amazon.com

The Amazon Alexa team is looking for an experienced Product Management leader to define the end-to-end vision and strategy for Alexa Blueprints, a recently released capability of Alexa that enables anybody to create Alexa skills without writing code.

You will understand customer requirements and then be responsible for creating and driving product roadmaps and features. In this role you will work backwards from customers and third party developers to understand their needs and aspirations. You will create business requirements documents and develop a long term roadmap for blueprint selection and customer engagement. A successful candidate will have strong passion for customer experiences and experience in designing product/platform strategies.

You have a background in software product management, specific to customer or developer facing products and experiences. You must be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively across multiple organizations, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple products and applications that customers love.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write product/marketing requirements documents and ensure clear communication and coordination of requirements to the business, design and development teams.
  • Contribute to the overall product roadmap, and manage prioritization and tradeoffs against customer experience and time to market.
  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners.
  • Establish business processes and policies as well as metrics and indicators for success.
  • Measure and analyze existing products and business models for opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to customers.
  • Drive product launches including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members
  • Develop, report, and continually improve business performance metrics
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with computer science, engineering, or Business related disciplines
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Product Management with
  • Experience coordinating complex product development cycles and software development schedules
  • Experience working on a global product

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of Business Administration degree
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Willingness to do whatever is necessary for the success of the product; general manager / owner mentality
  • Experience developing for mobile and other devices
  • Experience delivering technology products/services in a high growth environment with a demonstrated ability to define and manage repeatable mechanisms in a high velocity high ambiguity environment
  • Exceptional customer focus
  • The ability to persuade and influence others using verbal and written communication techniques
  • Strong quantitative data analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to drive projects to completion
